Vodka memory loss (read first)

Okay, I know that when people drink alot they often forget what happened.

But the first time I ever got REALLY drunk was on kersh. I forgot the whole night, to the point where when I went back in to the room that the party was in the next morning, I felt like I'd never seen it before in my life. I apparently spent the WHOLE night throwing up. I lose my memory at a point which is APPARENTLY -exactly- when I started throwing up.

I wasn't too weirded out, cos I'd had a lot and it sounds normal.

But I've been very, very drunk many, many times since. And never thrown up. I used to drink like half a litre of vodka on a night out, and could NEVER remember anything, but wouldnt get hangover or feel sick.

I made a load of stupid mistakes when drunk.
I slept with my best friend who has a girlfriend (not sure if it was consentual), I did cocaine for the first (and only time) the week after WHILST crying about that incident where ANOTHER guy friend who has a g/f tried it on with me because I was hugging him and crying explaining it all (but I had the sense to turn him down, thank god). Then I told our mutual guy friend what happened when I was drunk and he HUGELY fell out with me. And I couldn't remember ANY of this stuff, until they reminded me. In the first case I woke up in hiss bed, so it gradually came back to me. In the second case I was gettinbg flirty texts the next day and was really confused, until he exlained. In the last case, I was blissfully unaware he was even mad until he angrily approached me and told me what happened and it all came flooding back.

I SWEAR I'm not exaggerating. My memory just GOES, but then comes back when I'm told. Also, I can often remember bits before and after the stuff I hate about the events.

Does anyone else get this? Is it physical or emotional?

it happens to me too. one time i got really really super drunk and i blacked out the whole night and still to this day dont remember anything. I woke up and had no idea how i got there or anything. even the first time i had sex i dont remember most of it. you just have to pace yourself when you drink, take a couple shots & dont drink a bunch at one time.

Yeah im totally not an alcoholic. I'm a student. I drink less than most people I know. I FAR from crave alcohol. Like, I go out and drink once or twice a month?

And it wasn't my best friend's boyfriend. HE was my best friend. HE had a girlfriend. SHE is kind of a bitch who has cheated on him, and says she doesnt care about him, and he intends to leave her next time they see each other (long-distance, see?)

I know it's still bad, but I'm more concerned with the medical side than the life-lessons. =/

    Sorry.

also coke is run when you are sober but i prefer much stronger drugs. also after you drink smoke some weed, it helps with the dizzyness and you feel twisted which is awesome

i am an alchaholic and i have been there it sucks. what you need to do is pace your self, take a couple shots, wait a minute, and do that till you feel drunk but not too drunk. what ever you do, dont chug the bottle because your friends will get pissed off and you will be wasted.

Doesn't happen to me to that extent but then again, I've never been a huge drinker and have only been really drunk a handful of times. You should really not drink to the point of blackout, it's terrible for you. I'm sure you're aware but seriously, cut back on your liquor consumption. A half a liter of vodka for a female is ridiculous.

    • I have to ask the question though, what is so wrong about being sober? Is there something wrong with living life in a clear and thoughtful manner?

I agree with her, if your body can't handle it, for your own sake, don't do it. If you are having sex with your best friends boyfriend and having raging blackouts, perhaps it is time to stop now.

If you are not yet, do you really want to waste years of your life as an alcoholic? If not, then stop drinking as it truly isn't so bad being sober.

Now if you all excuse me, I have a five hour exam tomorrow to get my tax preparer's licence in Oregon. Hell, it only took me six months of LOOOOONNNNNGGGGG school days and studying. If nothing else, I learned that I do learn while sitting in my fiance's car for hours upon end and "forced" to study.

      • Today, for example, I passed that god damn test I have spent the last six months studying for and soon I will be a tax board certified tax preparer (Requirement only in Oregon)

I couldn't do this if I pissed around my time or did drugs. It was hard work and I wanted to give up a few times but I did it. I have something FOR that time spent. Your drinking on the other hand, you will get nothing but problems and bad memories.

        Try sobering up.

You know nothing about her life yet you seem to believe you have her completely figured out.

I'm not a drunk! I'm an A and B grade student who's just got two marks off a first on her first assessment for her law degree!

Jeez. Student. Drinking. I'm sober 99.9%% of the time. But when I'm drunk it REALLY effects me.
Could we stick to the question at hand please?

And what a shocker... I was sober!
