Veggies suck!

Okay, so basically, I decided to become a vegetarian over a year ago and since then I've cut all meat products like I wanted to. But the problem is, I really hate vegetables, like all of them! They taste disgusting to me and I never really have a wide variety of meals. So instead of eating vegetables, I eat junk food. I thought being vegetarian meant being healthy, but not for me! I don't want to eat meat ever again because I'm into animal rights, so I don't know what to do. Also, I certainly don't get enough daily vitamins because I rarely eat fresh fruit or vegetables. Oh, btw, I don't eat anything for lunch anymore when I'm at school (because I don't have any ideas of what to eat that doesn't have meat in it) so by the end of the day, I can't think properly.. I know that I don't get enough protein too, which is a huge problem. What should I do? I don't want to just quit what I started!

Okay first off, you sound like an annoying person, im not saying this to be mean but really... you dont want to eat animals but you dont want to eat "veggies" also.

theres some things you should know about vegetarians and about humans in generall.

1 we are hardwired to the taste of fat.
its the same reason bears only eat the fatty parts of fish when they are about to hybernate, fat = natures energy, it provides the most bang for its buck.

The main reason you dont like "veggies" is probably because you were spoiled as a child and were not expected to eat things you did not have an overwhelming approval of.

Also being a chef, "Veggetarian" dishes can be verry tastey you just need to realize HUMANS CRAVE FAT, so next time you are cooking your vegg. try throwing some margarine(plant fat) into the pan and seasoning them properly Look for recipies and such.

2 there are many types of vegetarians
-Lacto = Veggetarians that eat/drink dairy
-Ovo = veggetarianst that eat eggs
-Pesce = Veggetarians that eat fish

All of the above can provide a perfectly healthy diet. so maybe you should look alittle more into veggetarians.

"ANIMAL RIGHTS" is not an addiquate reason to become a veggetarian, it sounds like you got all emotional when you learned where your hamburger came from. if you dont like animals being killed so that you and your family can live.... then i guess you should stop lions from eating antelope. eating meat is natural... there are plenty of places that treat their animals humanely and even bless/thank them for their meat.

even if you STILL want tobe a veggetarian... you should concider becoming a Lacto/ovo/pesce veggetarian or any combinationof the three.

then you could use butter to sautee your veggtables/tofu/omlets/what ever it is...

im rambling on and on and i guess its an atempt to tell you one broad message....

Stop complaining and either A. EAT MEAT, or B. Do your research, find recipies C. Realize your little veggetarian kick, is not having any impact on the world's animals at all

Try eating some vegetables with cheese, ranch, peanut butter, or.. some other topping you like.
They block out most of the flavor of vegetables you don't like.
I recommend taking B12 pills and supplements,
eating eggs, yogurt (if you're not vegan) and peanut butter.

The human body requires a wide variety of foods to be healthy, and it has a funny way of craving the things it isn't getting and being repulsed by the things it doesn't need.
It's not so simple to go vegan because there are certain vitamins, minerals, and essential amino acids that are most easily obtained from animal products.
Try doing a bit more research to develop a properly balanced diet to get all the nutrition you need, and maybe your apetites will be better satisified.
On the other hand, you might try to calculate just how many cows and chickens there would be in the world if we didn't eat them.

You need a variety of foods and you sound like you are too picky to have a good diet. Please talk to a nutritionist.

Fortunately for you, although I am a carnivore, I do not eat veggitareans, mainly because they taste horrible.

Experiment with new ways of cooking them. I hate my broccoli boiled, but really love it steamed or raw! Also, you can eat them together with other foods, or with spices. Good luck!

  • Peanut butter and jelly sandwhich's are good to have at lunch, if your school doesn't allow peanut butter (most don't mindd it but just in case) try just jelly, or a cheese sandwhich.
And if you don't like veggies what about fruit? Try apples and oranges and bannana's and much more.
Oh and cheese and peanuts are good protien to.

I've been a vegetarian for almost 2 years. Being a vegetarian doesn't mean you only eat vegetables, it means you eat anything as long as it's meatless. It is more healthy than being a meat-eater, but u have to eat the right things. I eat a lot of imitation meat products, salad, and veggie pasta and pizza. Look up some recipes..I'm sure you'll find something.

Depending on which part of the country you live in..look for morning star products or boca burgers...although I prefer morning star. Its vegetarian meat products and they taste almost EXACTLY the same. I'm NOT vegetarian..but I DO buy those products occasionally because some of them..like their buffalo chicken tastes better than ACTUAL chicken and its healthy. You may hate veggies but you will NOT taste them. Guaranteed.

Being a vegetarian for the health aspect is just retarded. Remember, balance is the key. A little bit of almost everything is good.

I was like you when I first became vegetarian. I didn't eat meat but I didn't like vegies either. After about 10 years being vegetarian I have aquired a taste for them fortunately.

There are tons of options though. How about potatoes since they are still vegetables but not really like a vegetable. Or vegetarian pasta or pizza which you can easily make. Dairy foods? like cheeses. Do you eat fruit? You could have a fruit smoothie. An I've seen lots of vegetarian pastries in the shops. Sandwiches? The list goes on and on. Being vego is easy.

At least you're not vegetarian and coeliac and hypoglycemic like me

in our campus, all the cafeterias is vegetarian. they have lots of different kinda dish. i'm not a vegetarian myself, but i have no problem eating vegetarian food. being a vegetarian doesn't mean you have to live off salad bar. we have vegetarian burger, pizza, lasagna, pastas, spaghetti meatballs, orange chicken, stroganoff, tacos, enchiladas, everything. they use gluten for the imitation meat. they use lots of soy product too. however, they use dairy product and eggs, so it's not vegan.

I know what you mean about disliking vegatables, my advice is to look around in your local shops for Quorn, Tofu or some other alternative. something i do is make a quick wrap with a tortilla some pasta souce and a little bit of veg, you can taste the veg slightly but its still pretty good. just get inventive in the way you prepare your food and you might stumble upon something healthy you like.

My sister and Dad are vegetarians and they eat all kinds of foods. If your worried about vitamins and such, go buy One a Day Teen Advantage vitamins. You really should also try Morning Star products. All the food is fake meat. So you can still make like meatballs and pasta, or hamburgers. I don;t eat red meat , but I do eat chiken, and someone like myself who has tasted both products, I have to say they taste very good. Most people wouldn't think they do but, if your trying to be heathier, look into it. Find like a whole foods or even Shop Rite. Shop rite has a good heathy section. They even have brownies that are heathy, chips, pizza, soda. Everyone should eat heathy, because the food is good and it makes you feel good. Eating Heathy can be more expecive, but when better nutritions get in your body, you eat less because you body gets what it needs. There is many ways to eat heathy and not eat meat at the same time, you just have to find what works for you.

Good LUck, and please excuse bad spelling ex.

Try Quorn, it's pretty nice, and should give you some protein too. Also, there's Linda McCartney stuff, which is mostly pretty sweet. If you really don't get enough vitamins and minerals, get supplements, nearly every chemists/ natural food shop sells them.
