Vegetarians/vegans/animal people, ethical dilemma...

Yes, it's an old question.
Would you eat a chicken in order to save the life of another chicken>?
If you eat it, another chicken is spared and lives happily ever after. If you refuse, the other chicken will be killed.

If you're not a vegeterrarian, just pretend you are...

I would eat it, despite my reservations... 5
I won't eat it... and I might explain why if you're lucky 4
I'm not sure.... 2

As a vegetarian, I'd eat the chicken. The point of being a vegetarian, to me at least, is doing my part to not harm the animals, and if eating one is the best way to do that, I'd be willing and happy to do so, despite feeling guilty about eating the other chicken.

    I like cats...
Sounds like a chicken will die either way so what's the point of eating one of the two?

    • If you eat chicken 1, then chicken 2 is saved.

If you don't, then both chickens are killed.

So yes, chicken 1 will die either way. But chicken 2's fate is in your hands.
