Utopia or dystopia, ai taking over everything we need to do normally

for example AI can do politics like make laws and shit, food production is completely AI we can just get our food from a grocer and even the cashier is AI, house cleaning is AI, building is AI maintenance is AI, even the maintenance of the AI is done by AI, so we barely have to do. In a world like that is it a utopia or a dystopia. this is assuming AI don't become self conscious and put humanity to extinction, AI only works for us and we just reap the benefit of years long of AI research.

Edit : it's a philosophical question, don't think about how it would be impossible.

dystopia. that amount of power would be so easily corrupted

I think dystopia, for many of the reasons already stated in others' comments here, but also because as the world becomes more and more run by technology and the Internet, the more isolating and depressing it is becoming, in my opinion.

I think people need work to give them a sense of purpose but there are many industries that are miserable to the people who work them, I wonder if the pursuit of hobbies (in the hypothetical where AI is doing everything), would create a utopia, maybe if it came with universal income

AI is much further away than ppl think from taking over all our jobs and doing everything. What do you mean house cleaning is AI? Because of robot vaccumes? That shit gets stuck on the rug dude. Whys every company still have a janitor? Theres some things that cant be automated and some things are more expensive and time consuming to automate. Then you need abunch of ppl to fix it when it breaks down.

You ever try calling a company and talking to the stupid AI robot that picks up?

AI can't take away jobs, however it isn't ready to have preferences or emotions yet.

    • I'm talking about an imaginative future, where something like that actually works. I just want your take on if something like that is happening would it be a utopia or a dystopia.
it could be a human robot that can move exactly like a human cleaning the house for all I care.

Oh yeah if AI takes over the elites will try to sterilize most of the planet some how. There's no way the people in power that control the machines will want to give wealth to anyone thats not how it works. And the majority of the world would get poorer we would become a huge threat to them and they will try to make sure we dont have kids or we stay fighting eachother. They would have such insane servillience everywhere the toilet would probably spy on your butthole as you shit.

Utopia, AIs can be used as the only sources of advice, they'll give advice on just about everything. You can be certain of everything with an AI.

It’s not AI it’s a bunch algorithmic crap, far from deserving of that label at this point in time.

AI isn't all that capable yet, as has been mentioned.

That said, utopia. Absolutely utopia, and I don't know what's wrong with all of you. A few key points, so this post will actually be readable:
    - No one even understands how their computer works, especially not people in government, so I wouldn't worry about it being corruptible. These aren't interlinked and devices and no one has direct control over them. You think some MIT grad is going to hack your toaster? They're too busy being rich, they don't care.
    - Isolation is being pushed by social media, not AI (unless that AI is mimicking social media, but that was already an on-going issue before AI). AI taking over time-consuming jobs would actually provide us with more time to be with our friends and families, not less.
    - Surveillance would be entirely dependent on the source of the AI in question and who it's being used by. AI being used by businesses would have no surveillance because large companies can't afford their secrets being leaked. AI being used by the government would have no surveillance for the same reason. That leaves civilians. Since our AI would probably be getting supplied by Apple and Google, we likely wouldn't be facing any more surveillance than we're already facing from having our easily-tapped phones pointed at our faces at all times. Government surveillance using AI robots or whatever simply wouldn't happen because... well, just look at people attacking self-driving cars. Paranoia would hit those machines so hard, they wouldn't know their servos from their motherboards.

No, we're just looking at a place where Google is able to be slightly more creepy, but no one ever has to work in a McDonald's. It's a net positive.
