Using corona to get away with stealing

Since this whole corona virus thing has really taken hold, I’ve noticed that the police are more focused on things such as enforcing social distancing and making sure people don’t break isolation rules so they are not even bothering to investigate other petty crimes.

Since this has happened I have started purchasing bikes and other items such as lawnmowers on eBay. I then arrange to collect the items with my friend (a surprising number of people are still willing to meet up to sell stuff) and he will load the stuff into the car as I talk to seller under the pretence that I am about to pay. I then pretend that I am going into my car to get my purse and then drive off without paying.

It has so far worked seven times and my friend and I then resell the stuff and split the profits 50/50. We have made over $300 and no one has reported it because they know they are not supposed to meet up to sell stuff. I actually hope the pandemic lasts longer so I can continue to make this easy money.

So you're agreeing to meet people to buy with cash stuff on ebay that's widely-known to often have been stolen by the seller.

Sooner or later, you and your buddy are going to encounter even bigger assholes than yourselves, and then you'll end up in ER with people hacking their lungs out all around you.

    Good luck with that.

I'm not buying any of this... 7 times you load gardening equipment into your vehicle and then casually drive off, pretending you have to get your money from the car.

Either you have robbed the stupidest idiots on the planet, or you are somebody who is very bored and not very imaginative.

Whenever I sell something, I wanna see cash, before I hand in that thing. No way I'm letting someone load my lawnmower in their van, then going "I forgot my wallet in the van" and then letting them drive away.

No cash in my hand, no deal!

Then we get to the question of license plates... or what you look like.

Pretty sure if you do that once, or twice the police is still gonna react. It's still theft. All you need is a license plate and a vague description... And if this is true and you are using a global pandemic to get a few hundred bucks from petty theft, then I would really want you to try and rob me so I can smash your face in.

But I doubt you live in Europe, so I do hope someone else smashes your face in instead. I really, really hate thieves.

    • The people are usually older so don’t really realise what’s going on until it’s too late. I deliberately pick people who look like they’d fall for it.

    • Ditto. And to do things like this to people who may already be short of cash and selling things so they can get by. You can't get much more pathetic or scummier than that.

Honestly I would hire someone to track you down. I would then burn down your house. If an an apartment complex, your car would be totaled. It would be worth every penny just to ruin your day

Get in touch with them over craigslist again, using different contact info, put a GPS tracker in one of the items. Private investigators cost a lot.

You do realise that just because it was a pay on pickup doesn't mean they are not protected by ebay?

I don't believe your story! It don't make sense. But if it was true this is what would happen.. The buyer will open a case with ebay and the police. The police will take around three weeks to get to you, maybe longer with this corona shit. Ebay would give him the money for the items and send your information to a collection agency. It gets worse for you if you have a fake name when the police catch up with you because this now becomes fraud on top of theft.

I bet if this was real you were too dumb to peer 2 peer your ip or have your ip sent through someone else, hell even use a vpn that doesn't log? Then you pull up in your car with your real number plates, they see your face, bla bla..

I call bull shit, unless you are the dumbest fuck in the world because not only will you have the theft shit, you also will be fined for not having a reason to leave your home during the corona virus. A guy got busted transporting weed, funny, pigs said it wasn't a allowed reason to leave his home, so on top of the drug shit he got a 1500 dollar fine for just being out of his home.

I've learned to never underestimate the stupidity of people, so I'm not as convinced as you that it's BS trolling.

The scenario you suggest is very amusing, and it's even more amusing to think that if the OP has any sense at all, he's now wondering how long he and his partner in crime will be waiting before the hammer falls.

Still, if the stuff was stolen by the sellers, I imagine it's less likely they'd want the police involved (unless they're just as dumb as the OP).

My money is still on this daring duo of cretins getting their comeuppance when they try to rip-off some asshole who stole the stuff and is desperate for some cash for a fix (or even a meal). A lot of criminals are having cash-flow problems right now because their normal revenue streams have dried up. People being home all the time means they can't break in during the day, there's nobody on the streets to mug, and you can't steal from a closed store. In the UK, there's also apparently a shortage of drugs on the street due to restrictions on international and internal travel, so I bet there are a lot of people in the social underclass who are feeling generally crabby right now.

I was actually thinking earlier about drug addicts, especially heroin users and how they would get their fix. Most long term heroin users don't have cars and would surely get busted walking to the old dealers house. I guess police wont be able to prove they aren't just getting exercise as thats still allowed in all states of Australia where I live. As there is less cars on the road I would think transporting drugs would be the main problem as there is a extremely higher chance you will be pulled over.

Yeah I wouldn't be pulling of any scams at the moment, a lot of anxious people out there, anxious makes people dangerous, add that with desperate and you can find yourself in a very bad situation quickly.

How is all the scams getting around now like the email scams and the fake coronavirus test being sold on ebay from china. Or even the counties out of our reach that are hacking our hospital computers and we can't touch em because we don't have the right agreements with their state or country.

No "the sweat of your brow" these days, no elbow grease, just a bunch of monkeys flinging shit at each other trying to screw the other guy for peanuts.

They don't want people quitting drugs, that's why liquor stores are staying open. They want to keep detox patients out of the hospital. I'm suprised the cops aren't supplying the drugs. Oh wait, pigs do that anyway.

Only time the cops will risk infection to bust a drug deal is when they run out of drugs in the evidence locker to use themselves. They're stocked up for a long time.

      • To the human trash who want to pull it off maybe. But people do have cameras and people who pull this crap will get caught. I just can't believe anyone could be so selfish and cruel as to do something like this. Strike that. I DO believe it. Some people are just self-serving scumbags with no care or thought to the people they hurt.

People should be more careful not to get robbed.

I remember years ago on craigslist i was fixin a couple lawn mowers and needed a motor. Went to this guys place, he had about 150 small engines from the early 20s to today in a rickety shack on his property that you definitely couldn't see from his house and the doors were so rotten I could've probably ripped the deadbolt right off of them. Basically brought me in and said pick out what you like.

I didn't rob the guy cause he was nice, but it would've been real easy for a craigslist stranger to come back late at night with a truck crowbar the door open and steal a ton of metal. Lots of the pig stations near me have "property swap" spots in the parking lot for sale of stuff like this.

Blacks have a habit lately of doing crimes and then posting videos on FB to show off. Usually it is violent crimes though like beating up a kid with down's syndrome.

This is a brilliant plan. And you can do it while you collect unemployment cause it's off the books money! I don't know many people who meet in person off ebay though, craigslist is better for buying things in your local area

Lol youre lying but you should be veeery careful. Some people wont take that shit and will chase u in their car and theyre gonna have guns. Youd be lucky if they called the cops. I cant imagine if someone did this to my uncle lol. Theyd have bullet holes all throughout their car

$300? Come on, you could be robbing banks or other businesses that are still open. The police have no way to ID you when everyone is wearing a mask.
