Using beer to focus on studying (an engineer's tale)

I have a very hard time keeping focus on my homework, and there's always a lot of complex and boring crap I have to solve. Facebook, and this forum lol, make for an easy distraction.

To keep on task I've come to need a special vibe:

Have 1 or 2 beers, put on retro headphones and blast my brains out to hard rock music. Do this for say 5 hours until my hw is done!
This makes me go 'hardcore' on the homework, like a rock star would on stage. I get right into the homework with a buzz and the right atmosphere.

It's probably way over the top, and will make me a very rich alcoholic when I become an engineer.

So my question for you is...

How do you focus on studying? Lets share some ideas here, and be constructive.

    Wow, I did almost the same thing often during college and now I find myself doing this from time to to concentrate on studying things for my job. I'm in IT so I often have to focus and read technical guides and manuals. A little buzz helps me. I dont think it is normal though, I think I have ADD or something. I was searching for something medically related to my symptoms and found your post! Was thinking that maybe if I really get into meditation if will help quite my mind and let me focus without needing a buzz and my ambient music station on pandora playing in my ears, ha!

    Dog I am the same way. I'm a college student that has distractions all around. I drink a few beers and blast techno to get into an upbeat, productive mood. I don't feel like you will become an alcoholic from doing this as I know I do not. Drinking alcohol is not always a negative thing outside of a party environment. If doing what you do works then keep at it. It's hard to change. Sorry if this isn't what you're looking for.
