Urge to drink alcohol when stressed/annoyed

i refrain from drinking out of frustration but the urge is there. it's not like i want to get smashed but just a buzz that usually puts me in a carefree mood.

i drink about once every 2 weeks but feel like drinking 5/7 days..don't want to risk addiction though.

IIN??

I would say that it's normal to anyone who lives a stressful (not necessarily unhappy) life. You just can't succumb to these urges that often, or they can/will destroy you.

I work 60-70 hours a week, doing hard labor, and I have the urge to drink heavily quite often, but usually mange to avoid it or only drink one or 2. I have seen several of my older co-workers have succumb to these urges and have really messed up their brain/liver/body/life.

I work on-call in the insurance restoration business. Basically if a pipe breaks, sewer backs up, or a fire happens and needs immediate remediation, I'm the first guy to show up.

  • Go for a run or do some pressups. You'll feel a lot better. I used to drink when I felt stressed and depressed. It motivated me to make some bad moves..I now exercise and feel a lot more optimistic
