Unsure how many wpm i typed and if i did wrong or right

I just got done taking an official typing test.

The test was 5 minutes long.
The most you could get was 60wpm.
I typed all the text and some people did not, so I assume that puts me at 60wpm right?

But then, after the 5 minutes, we had time to correct errors. I corrected all small typos there were only a few, but I had left out the word "the" in the middle of one of the sentences and it said "you can't add on to where you left off" and to me, adding an extra word that wasn't there before might make them think I was trying to cheat. I mean, wouldnt that be cheating but it said "the end" not "the middle"..so I'm confused. Is this -1 off my wpm score? Could I have added the word and had a perfect score?

I can't find this answer anywhere and It's been bothering me like mad. Please help if you know. Just let me know what you think even if you're unsure.

THANKS.

the old way that typing tests were done was that every 5 keystrokes equal one word. therefore, if you left out "the" in the middle of a sentence, that would be:

    space, t, h, e, space which equals 5 keystrokes,

and that would equal one keystroke per minute as an error. therefore, depending on how many words you typed in 5 minutes, say 300 5 keystroke words (that includes spaces and letters), it comes out to 60 wpm, with no errors, so your score would be 59 wpm.

the rules may have changed by now. 60 wpm is a pretty good score!
