Unexcited

Lately in general I feel unexcited. Nothing excites me and I dont know why. I feel more or less "ok" about everything. I'm 32, I have a good job in finance, and have a girl who's crazy about me. For some reason nothing excites me, not my job, not my girl, not my car, nothing, any ideas?

No kidding. Nutrition is key. If you are not willing to give up your sugar and eat a veggie or 2, then resign yourself to feeling this way. And keep going to the gym...

    Is this M?

  • Well, I'd imagine people get bored with life rather regularly if they don't try something new. Maybe you should take a vacation if you can afford it or do something as simple as go to a new restaurant with your girlfriend.

It's not depression. Thats a cop out. Look for what MEANS something to you and it's importance. I feel almost the same way sometimes. Like why am I here when I feel that there is something else that I could be doing that MEANS something to me, or something better than what I am doing right now. You can either follow it, or let it blow over. I felt that way A LOT before I moved from New Jersey to Florida. It's been a year BUT I have not had that feeling since then...until a few days ago. I am not financially sound. Nor do I need to be. I owe money. I need to make that go away. Once I am done here, I am off to find what gives me purpose. You should do the same. So should everyone else.

I know exactly how you feel. I was a dead weight until I started to travel around the world. It's your environment. It needs to change!

Make a list. Fill it with things you've always wanted to do. Tell everybody who needs to know what you're doing, and maybe recieve ideas from them. Take the ones you involved with you on your new adventures; for example, go to a match of a sport that you've never seen before, like waterpolo. Or try to take up a course in Russian. Make up a routine and a song and show it in public. Go to a barber and give him only the advice not to exxagerate, and how much money you want to spend: give him/her full freedom on your hair. Cook, if you're not used to do that, a breakfast, lunch or diner with unusual stuff like pineapple, foreign sweets, or yoghurt; don't do this to often, it's bad for your gesture. Go to a market place and try to remember all the smells. Donate your blood. Talk to a foreigner in the train (beforehand make sure the person IS a foreigner), ask him/her where he/she's from. Go to a different supermarket or specialised shop. Think of small, cheap and simple things that you could do. Note: Don't start overdoing things for example by going on an expensive holiday, stealing, or cheating. Don't do radical mid-life-crisis things like breaking up or buying a yacht; keep it simple and enjoyable.

I have a list like this, and it's wonderful. You get to know many different worlds outside of your own. You meet other people. The world is indescribably interesting and exciting; some people try to catch it in phrases (encyclopaedia), but you better explore the world by yourself. It has so much to offer. I could give you a load more ideas and examples of how things worked out for me. Do, however, take someone with you on some of your adventures, so you have someone to talk about it afterwards. And I repeat, don't do mid-life-crisis things!!! Very important!!

I would have to say depression. Eat better, exercize more, and talk to your doctor.

Eating better and exercizing more is a better treatment for depression than anything else in the world, 8 times more effective than zoloft after 6 weeks.

    Depression....?

  • Sometimes I feel like this, kind of like I could careless about everything, but I get over it in time. You have to have a more optimistic look on life, because it doesn't end until your time is up, and when that time comes you'll wish you lived a more meaningful life.
