I turned 41 and lately, I seem to be super aware of little aches and pains which could be on the increase... Feel it, too ??

i just turned 50 and run and jump around better than many of my 20 and 30yo friends. i'll just state what works for me.

i have a kind of punk "f* aging" attitude toward the whole thing. i refuse to be mentally or physically sedentary. yoga and running!! climbing, mosh pits, KEEP AN OPEN MIND to new ideas, new *music* (not just music from your "glory days" dude), new attitudes, and new ways of looking at things. these things aren't reserved for the chronologically young. yes, its all bullshit.

lose your old-minded friends immediately. toss the "old person script" you carry around that says how middle-aged people should think and act.

better yet, turn on some really loud music --maybe Tool or Flogging effing Molly-- and BURN that POS script while you and a few young and young-minded friends dance around it.

get the picture? now go climb that tree .. you know you want to!

Yep, normal. I am almost 42 and since I have turned 40 I am falling apart. Arthritis it seems in every joint, I need bifocals, my dentist loves me because those are going to hell, I think I am starting menopause....yep, my mom failed to tell me that you literally fall apart at 40...

The wort is yet to come. Involuntary noises when you bend down or get up stretch Rostand up to quick. 40s is nothing. Stay fit not fat 40s plus you need to watch your diet and keep active. Your a long time old and you not old yet. Massage, preferably by a pretty Asian girl. Acupuncture, and Chinese herbal Medicines not drugs they will affect your sleep or worse sex life.

Been there & done it, change my life style to the above with extra pay to play sex I don't want complications I like going home at night. But you can't eat chicken every day

Yeppers! The older we get the more little things we start to notice bother us! Welcome to the club! I turned 40 in November of last year, and I can relate. Although I must say, I have had many injuries over my life time. Lots of broken bones, fractures, sprains etc... I wake up every morning with aches and pains that remind me I am not 20 years old anymore even though I like to think I am. I play football, baseball, basketball, golf, and ride ATV's with my family, we also camp, hike, fish and hunt. I try very hard to "keep up" with the kids, but I suffer for it afterwards. Arthritis has set in my friend! Lol! We joke around that " I go to be with Ben Gay and wake up with Arthur Itis"! Our bodies tell us a lot by sending us signals of aches and pains. My mother who is 76, has told me that it started in her 40's and has progressively gotten worse over the years. She doesn't take anything except the occasional Ibuprofen for it, and a prescription cream called "Voltaren Gel" She rubs that on her knees, hands and hips and she is good to go! Swears by it! I have tried it myself and that stuff is AMAZING! Better than "Icy Hot or Ben Gay". Totally normal!

It depends on where the aches and pains are.I had heartburn one night, went to bed, woke up the next day and got it again...but it was actually a heart attack!Got rushed to the hospital and almost died.Talk to your doctor if you start feeling worse.

Ha, wait until you are 50, it's even worse! I can feel rain coming in any bone that has been damaged. I can't sleep in any position any longer except on my back because of bad sinuses and allergies. I'm lactose intolerant and get migraines more than ever. I'm waking up at 5:30 every morning and can't go back to sleep. Ah, aging is so much fun! But don't let it bother you, we're all going through it, join the club and just laugh at it.

    • Right on. You are not alone. Still, it would be nice to acknowledge the realities of aging without being treated like complainer or an invalid.

The forever young Pepsi generation is not going to do this aging thing well, I expect, and will be hard on the grumblers in its ranks as it denies another truth of life.

what you need to do is get out of your feeling old mentality and foucus on being healthy. pain is all in the mind literally. have you ever cut yourself and not noticed to you see blood and then all of a sudden it hurts? thats what i mean stop looking at the booboo and you'll be fine

After 40 years one would assume that you would be aware of what comes with age. This question is a waste of time. Everyone who took the time to read it is now dumber, for having read it. I award you no points for your stupidity and may god have mercy on your soul.

It is a common thing in latin america. I'm married to a woman from Puerto Rico and when we lived there, that's what everyone did. From what I gathered it's because they don't want to back up the septic system. I found it strange. I found it really strange when after moving home, they came to visit and did it at my house.
