Toothpaste potato salad

My grandma uses toothpaste as one of the ingredients in her potato salad. I am wondering if this is a midwest cuisine thing or if she's demented? Everytime we eat at her house, the food has extremely odd flavors.

Did she also ask you to climb into the oven and clean for her

Either granny is losing it, or she just wants you all to get your fluorite.

Ew, no... That's disgusting. For a second I thought that you meant potato salad toothpaste; equally as gross...

A pinch of fresh chopped mint is an ingredient in potato salad, toothpaste is a poor substitute.

Well you could. But can't she just get some mint, even a jar of dry herb would be a million times better.

No, definitely NOT normal. Toothpaste is certainly NOT in one of the food groups.
