Too shy to use webcam

I'm trying to build confidence around strangers, I thought an easy way to do this would be to go on omegle video chat but I'm actually finding it harder to talk to talk to strangers on my screen over the internet than people I meet irl, in fact I disconnect as soon as I see someone no matter how hard I try, I spoke to one person, they asked what's up and all I could say was, not much........ Followed by silence, followed by me disconnecting, so my question is this, first, is it common to be so shy to random strangers on the internet and also how do you find things like this?

    Yes, it's common. I had the same problem when I used a similar service. I wore things like thick coats, fake beards, sunglasses, and hats in order to hide. I managed to get over it by gradually removing these articles one at a time, until I was showing my entire face.

    I dont think it's a good way of going about it. You're dealing with the internet...not just one person necessarily, would have thought its be terrifying. Webcams gross me out unless its with someone you already know and are close to. You could join some charity group, and go help old people with their shopping or kids with their homework or church related things ( I only say that coz churches are welcoming).
