Too late to send thank you card?

Someone gave me a gift about two and a half months ago. It was a painting their friend made. I thanked the person who gave me the gift but I also wanted to thank their friend. It wasn't their friend's idea but they consented to it. I never got around to sending them a thank you card, would it be normal to send one now? Is it too late? It's been almost three months

    You can do it whenever you want to. It's a "thank you", and everyone appreciates them.

    Send the thank you card and fact that it got misplaced somehow and apologize.
