Too hot for me, but others don't agree

So I never understood how people can drink black coffee or hot tea that is so hot! But for me even freshly cooked food is too hot. It hurts my tongue. I usually cook my foods and no matter what it is I wait for it to get to room temperature (even grilled cheese). If not, it burns my tongue and hurts like hell. Anyone else like this?

hot liquids can cause esophageal thickening which increases risk of throat cancer

I am also like you. My brothers have tin throats, I swear. They drink that lava coffee as if it is nothing. I wait until my stuff is almost completely cold and then I drink/eat it.

I can handle most things but I remember whenever I was younger (I mean like 9-ish), my mother used to always put my hot chocolate in the microwave for soooooooo longggggg. She said it was perfectly fine but I swear it could've gave me 3rd degree burns.

I guess everyone's tolerance for heat is different. Like someone already mentioned, you could just have a sensitive tongue.

Some people like you and I have sensitive tongues. Try putting cold milk or creamer in your coffee. Works great.

I've heard it said that eating hot food is not all that healthy. Some researchers have found that those who eat cooler food live longer.
This is not to say that eating spicy food is unhealthy. There are some areas where those who eat very spicy foods live as much as 20 years longer than those in the west with all their life prolonging medicine.
    Go figure.

    • I'm talking about temperature, not spicy.

You didn't think my post addressed that?
