Toilet paper in the toilet before...

A few weeks ago my bf tried to tell me about the life hack where you put toilet paper in the toilet so that when you go poo it doesn't splash up on you.I was like yeah...I have been doing that since I was like 10. I hate public toilets but when you gotta go you gotta go. To keep disgusting water from splashing on my bum I put toilet paper in the toilet. I assumed most people did this. But my bf just learned about it online. I was wondering if this is true for other people?or if like me you descovered it all on your own?

    When I was potty trained we used an "outhouse", and things didn't splash there. When I began using indoor toilets in first grade at school, I didn't like the splash either. If the toilet looked really clean with clean water then I took my chances. Otherwise, I would put some paper in the bowl as a "splash suppressor".
