To guys, what would be your reaction if a girl told you she likes you

Okay..here's thing..there's that guy that I had feelings for and I told him I liked him recently. To be honest, I'm rather a shy person so I was only encouraged to do so after I felt he likes me too. (I don't wanna bother you with many details, yet there were many things that made feel this way). But anyway, when I told him he said it wasn't the same for him :( When this happened I felt I freaked him out or turned him off by taking that move myself or perhaps he was only playing with my emotions..I don't know. Anyway, I know we're all grown ups and no body *should* think with such mentality now. But I'm not asking about a right or wrong answer, I mean what would you REALLY feel? I want to know what I've done wrong :(

It will be like a total turn off/U wouldn't be interested anymore. 10
U will think it's okay but still not very good thing to do. 11
U'll feel flattered, appreciate her confidence and give her a chance. 187

You will freak out! 26

My reaction depends on whether the feelings are reciprocated.

If I felt the same way about her, I would probably be flattered, excited and see this as an opportunity to enter into a romantic relationship.

If I didn't feel the same way about her, I would probably be flattered but embarrassed and have a feeling of guilt, perhaps wondering if I had given her the wrong impression or encouraged her in some way. This would make continuing a friendship awkward for me and I would probably think it wise to distance myself from her so as not to cause any further heartache. That would make me sad.

In my opinion, if he liked you in the way you thought he did, he wouldn't have said he didn't feel the same way. Perhaps you misread the signals, or perhaps he did mislead you.

It depends how direct you were. I was propositioned for a date last month completely out of the blue. I was a customer and a female employee was talking to a male employee about her lack of a love life. Then she looked me up and down and asked if I would go out with her on Saturday night.

I was unusually flustered and couldn't come up with an answer so I just stood there moving my lips but not saying anything. Admittedly, this is an extreme example because I barely know the woman and had probably only had a couple of small conversations with her about nothing at all.

That's how I reacted to a very direct approach. In your case, it's different because you thought there were already feelings. From experience, getting together with someone is a bit like a dance. You push yourself a little in their direction and they push themselves a little in yours. If you take steps too large, it'll make someone feel uncomfortable. If you take steps too small, they'll think you're not interested enough. It's not an easy thing to judge at first. It comes with experience. I usually veer on the side of caution, even though it has cost me relationships with a few people I was interested in.

  • To be honest I like girls with a bit of fire. Kudos to you for having the courage to tell him that. He obviously isn't a brave man himself otherwise he would've liked your own bravery.

Don't be discouraged though. You risked much and lost but where there is no great risk, there is no great victory.

I know, in my expereince when someone finds out I like them they stop talking to me. I just lost a friend this past week because of that, and I didn't even tell him. He got it out of me accidentally when I was drunk and he was asking me what I think about him appearance wise, then told me he'd known for months.

But now he won't talk to me. I don't know why people are that way, but whatever. Their loss, right?

    Depends on your looks

DO NOT make the mistake I made
    Just leave them alone now
DON'T text them or message them or make contact with them
Unless its like once a month
Or if you see them, just say hi

    Don't be obsessed!

A lot of times, if the guy hasn't made a move, it's because he's not interested. You definitely did the right thing to ask, and if he was shy or unsure what to do he'd be glad you did, but if the guy hasn't hit on you, you probably shouldn't get your hopes up. Good for you for asking, anyway.

This is normal if a girl says she likes you or thinks you are attractive. It is just weird if I am not attracted to the girl in any way, shape, or form. It has happened a couple of times and I reply with, " Awe, thank you, that is sweet of you!" if I do not like the girl. If I like her also, ill reciprocate the gesture.

If there was anything there at all between us, (if I thought she was cute or funny or nice etc), then I'd probably say "yes" and give her a chance. If she was a near-total stranger, or someone I didn't like, I'd say "no", or at least "it's too soon".

I'd probably be flattered even if I didn't like the girl, and at least a little flustered if I did.

  • I have said I am not interested in people six times, four females and two males.
Personally, I was flattered. Someone wanted me enough to ask me. I wasn't freaked out, I would still communicate with them.
I am not sure if other men do this, but I know I am flattered by it, not freaked out. I believe other men would feel the same, or anyone for that manner, but I wouldn't know.

Unless the girl is unattractive or crazy, I'd most likely be willing to give her a chance.
