To get so annoyed when no one has anything in common with you!

I've moved to a new town and everyone hear loves country, pop, rappers, etc. But just everything I despise and I get so aggravated with them and I can't be friends with them. They're so closed minded and find me weird for liking what I do, but maybe I should just act like they do.

I feel that way too. 16

Supposedly. I'm from Australia so I can only draw assumptions. From that I can say that Las Vegas is where money is everything. Las Vegas goes so over the top it's silly. Just look at the strip at night. As for the people there, you're most likely going to find gamblers and/or tourists.

Can someone else help me out here? What are people like in the different states of America without resorting to stereotypes.

well those are the tourists and touristy parts of las vegas where money is everything. i think that part is ok because thats how they are getting businness

however you walk into a local casino you just see fat old people in wheelchairs drinking and gambling all their money away...its sad really.

and the young adults are crazy here...they always talked about orgies and gangs and rape and even stabbing a girl and that was at a catholic high school...i cant even imagine what its like in a public school.

it kinda seems like las vegas is the weird redneck capital of the world, mixed with the craziest tourists who watch 'the hangover' and think they can do anything here...and im coming from europe so this stuff really stands out to me. my european friends think its so cool that im here and ask what celebrities i see everyday and stuff lmao...its nothing like that at all...

You really should try a less ridiculous place XD... most of the 'crazy americans' bunch up in certain areas to carry on with their crazy deeds that wouldn't be acceptable or normal anywhere else.

I'm european also. People are very different here. It really just depends on where you live but there are a lot of cool people.

I have completely different tastes in music to my friends and it's never been an issue:S And why are they close-minded? For not liking what you like?

    • I agree with Banana.
      Give them a chance maybe
You'll get along! It's not like
      Just because you guys like
      Different music doesnt mean
You cant get along! I myself
Enjoy Hip-Hop and Rap and I get
Along pretty well with metal heads and Screamo people its even better that way! Remember oppisites attract ;) I think it should be a pleasurable experience getting to know someone who has nothing in commom with you.

Me too! I always read it rhythmically like a poem, and get disappointed when it doesn't rhyme.

      • Yeah so true... Music is not everything... ok most of my friends like Metal, Rock, Punk and so on but I won't care if anyone has a different taste as long as they don't have a fucked up character!

Give it some more time. The locals are admititly simple folk but life is full of topics to discuss. Im sure you have many different interests in you life that you can talk about/share with others. Sex/relationships and movies are always good talking points. But i feel you on the "close-mindedness". I worked a lot there and the locals are nice, but i wouldn't call them "intellectuals"

Oh it's not just the music. Other things. No one laughs at my jokes, when I find something funny going on I'm always the only one laughing. They're not interested in the schoolwork as much as I am. The list goes on. I just see too many differences and not enough similarities.

Screw them. Like what you like. There's gotta be at least one cool person you can relate to. Maybe you just haven't met them yet

dont worry this is all normal. its completely natural for you to feel out of place dont think you ever have to change who you are as a person for anyone. just be patient and im sure your human instinct of adaptation will kick in and as soon as it does youll find urself making new friends and meeting people with interests as your own...goodluck :)

I understand what you mean. All of those things that they are into sound horrible! I would feel so out of place also.

  • You all have brains (I assume anyway). You all have tissue. Emotions. Loves, hates.

If you find differences it's because you looked for it. If you find commonality it's because you looked for that too.

Seems like you're the one who's close minded.

If no one had anything in common with me I wouldn't be a dick to them, it would depress me rather than annoy me.

Honestly I don't think I'm close minded. I've tried being friends with them and they always expect me to talk to them first and keep the conversation lively and I have nothing to talk to them about, plus the fact that I'm a bit awkward with strangers. Idk I just need them to try talking to them too, I'm assuming that the way I'm different than them throws them off.
