Sounds like you are not yet ready to open up to the reality of the people around you.
But you are testing the waters with the anonymous people on the web first.

Here's the real answer to stop all of this testing and researching. Just be yourself everywhere, you'll be perfectly fine.

We're one person in front of our parents, another with our close friends, and yet another with new acquaintances. All of them are real. Focus on making each of those versions of yourself excellent.

Because you can walk away from a stranger and never see them again, you cannot as easily walk away from those you are close to. You actually value the opinion and relationships of those around you and for some reason think that they'll disappear if they get to know you. They aren't stupid, I'm sure they understand more than you let on. Strangers are your venting. Ease into your valued people and keep the strangers, before long you may find yourself surrounded with another group of people who "get you" for who you are as well as a group of irreplaceable people that you want to know you better.

    It's normal.
