To feel like death of a love one?

Is it normal to break up with someone and it affecting you so strongly that it feels like someone has died? Even though I broke up with them at the time as I was undergoing alot of mental anguish and depression and wasn't thinking properly. After I had become betterand gotten help for my problems and realized what I had done,it really felt like they had died. We were together for 5 years and I'm in my early 30's. please comment. Thanks

I agree with Energy. It does feels like a death of a loved one in the beginning of the process, and it does get hard. I have been through that a lots times. Give yourself time to heal, it will get better. I promise. :)

A relationship is a thing that is very much alive. It drives decisions, it encourages positive feelings, and it can even progenerate. Breakups are hard because not only does that thing cease to exist, the survivors no longer have each other to rely on, and the flow of positive feelings has also stopped.

Getting laid fixes everything. That's what your missing. Everybody imagines him/her with another, that's what you can't accept. It'll be ok...you'll see.
