To be deeply ashamed of your own country?

Is it normal to be deeply deeply deeply ashamed of your own country if they send artists like these to the Eurovision Songfestival? I find it so embarrassing it's not even funny. WHY would anyone think they have a chance of winning with these songs?

Worst thing about this, yes people in my country actually like this.

I didn't watch the videos, but I have to say that a bad song or a terrible singer shouldn't be a reason for you to be ashamed of your country.

This post isn't anything about the songs or his so called 'distaste' of new artists like that. It's all about Youtube video views! SPAM!!!

Hahahaaa I'm the same, I'm from the UK and whenever I watch eurovision I cringeee! when that stupid aeroplane flying the flag people sang I was just like oh my god we are the laughing stock of Europe. Plus we come last a lot so im sure your country does better than us! However I loveee the UK in spite of this and love living here, I wouldn't say I'm really proud of my country but i wouldn't say I'm ashamed either (apart from eurovision oh my days)

    American Idol killed my patriotism.

Just kidding, pointless wars and a corrupt government did though.

I'm a Dutchie, and just reading your story was enough for me to know you are one too (I haven't watched the videos). I was also very ashamed when Sieneke sang Sjalalie there. My motherfudging god, the average kid has made up better songs in elementary.

Alle respect voor Vader Abraham, maar Sjalalie was de grootste flop aller tijden. Hij heeft ons weer mooi te kijken gezet als kaasvretende klompenlopers.

i think everyone should be proud of his own country!!! every country has its own culture, traditions and we should spread it all over the world. i've been in holland twice and i i think there's nothing to be ashamed of! people are kind, avalaible; the streets are clean and the public transports are well-arranged!

I'm not sure how the Eurovision Song Contest is viewed in the rest of Europe, but here in England, it's seen as a it of a joke. I don't mean that in a bad way. I mean we expect terrible songs, strange outfits, and for England to fare badly.

I think it's a great way for Europe to get together and just have a laugh. In some ways, the worse the song, the better! So I wouldn't stress too much about it. It's no reflection on your country whatsoever. It's just people getting dressed up and acting like idiots - and there's nothing wrong with that, once in a while!

It's not spam, don't see why I would do this to give them views. It's a serious question. And saying they're not that bad... Of all the participating countries we have been last place for years and years and years. And the stupid thing is, we have so many good dutch artists.
