I am a 30 year old guy and I have sucked my thumb since I was very young.
I have never told any friends or girlfriends and no one to my knowledge has seen me do it. I do it at private moments in private places.
Do you think it would put a girlfriend off of me if she saw me?
I do want to share it. Are there any other adults on here that suck their thumbs who I can chat too?
Everyone has a bad or weird habit. This is yours. If a woman you're with has a problem with it, she's not the right woman.

Dude, I am 52 and I still suck my thumb, It is the only thing that brings me comfort sometimes. In my book, it is better than drugs, alcohol, or suicide. My Wife hates it, but I can't stop. so I mostly just do it when I am alone. Don't worry about it, or the comments that other people leave that are rude.
It's not something you see everyday, but I wouldn't dump someone for it.
I can't believe only 18%% of people find this normal. It's actually very common. I'm a 21-year-old female and I love sucking my thumb. Embrace it.
nah, hot sauce doesn't work. Personally, I wouldn't find thumbsucking attractive on a male, even though I do it myself while I sleep and in secret. I just personally see thumbsucking as a weakness or insecurity and I like guys who are... very secure.
But there's nothing wrong with thumbsucking; it's most probably because your parents tried to force you to stop when you were a baby or child. That's why the majority of thumsuckers still do it.
But, so long as you don't do it in public, it isn't really a big problem, all it is to me is displaying weakness. Any girl who would dump you over something tiny like that clearly isn't the one for you.
I am a 22 yr. od woman and i always suck my thumb when i watch tv on the couch or when i need to sleep. It's not a habit that i'm proud of but hey, i don't drink or smoke so i gotta do something right? My boyfriend thinks its kinda cute. ;-)
i don't do it mysef, but if anyone i knew did it, i wouldn't really care
I wouldn't do it in front of your girlfriend but it's ok for comfort sometimes.
Do what makes you happy. I'm 37 and have sucked my thumb since I was a baby. My teeth are fine.
I can think of way worse things to be addicted to. Suck on my friend ! :-D
People make it seem as if the habit itself is easy to break. I've tried for years and I can't seem to let it go. I'm ashamed of it, and I don't tell anyone; fearing they'll be disgusted. It brings a sense of comfort, and I can't sleep without doing it. It's different from a child sleeping with a favorite blanket. Eventually, the blanket is taken away and the child learns to sleep without it. Tsing is an addiction, just be thankful were addicted to that and not anything worse.
Wait until you get older and feel the need to suck your own thumb but there ain't any places where you can hide. Imagine an old wrinkled man sucking his thumb in a corner of the metro after getting mugged...got it?hold on to it..

I used to do it,but I gave it up.
I thought it was a good way to stop smoking ciggies.Then I got into pacifiers.
Then Pacifiers made out of jelly candy.
But each one of them lasted just a few seconds.
So I started sucking beef jerkys.
And lollipops.I sucked everything I could but It revealed itself as a very addictive and expensive habit,so I just got into the thumb.
But my girlfriend wasn't there all the time giving me the thumb.I couldn't keep on cutting my own thumb to suck the blood out of it.The skin was getting harder than a nutshell.So I started with the ciggies all over again.And made sure I needed to suck something different from a cigarette only when I was in bed with my gf.It was her toe.And nipples.And neck.And ears.And tongue.And lips.She loved it.After a couple of years we grown apart,and I badly needed something to suckle on.So I started sucking dick.From time to time as an hobby.To please girls,and somehow guys too.Now I got to go.Must suck on a baby bottle.

Yeah that's a bit odd alright, but then we all have our quirks and habits. At least you're not raping children.
i sucked my thumb till i was 9 (then picked it up again till about 12 when i stopped again)
it was always just a sub concious thing but i decided to stop when i accidentally did it in school and the teacher POINTED IT OUT and the other kids laughed XD
but i still CONSTANTLY chew on things (like just now im chewing on a pen, before that i was chewing on a piece of plastic for a few hours, before that a straw, plastic army man, gum, etc etc)
It could be a comfort thing, or it could be what is commonly referred to as an oral fixation. In order to keep this at bay, you should find something to keep your mouth occupied such as chewing gum, eating light and healthy snacks such as celery which cause you to chew a lot, or chewing tobacco if you already smoke (not recommended if you don't smoke considering it greatly shortens your lifespan in the long run). It's probably not advised to sharing this with people such as your girlfriend as it could lead to a misinterpretation.
I haven't sucked my thumb since I was maybe 9 years old. it was a really bad habit & I had to make myself stop......chew gum or smoke or something....keep something in your mouth constantly to keep you busy.
That's better than a guy I worked with who would put MY pen in his mouth.
Caught him putting a plastic fork handle in his mouth in the workroom kitchen when talking, then he PUT IT BACK in the bin!
That's messed up. I couldn't understand kids doing it never mind 30 yr olds. Sort it out!
