Throwing up everything i eat?

I am an 18 years old female, from the UK, I weigh between 9-10 stone and I am usually healthy with no past medical problems. I am not pregnant just to be clear. On sunday morning about 3:00am I was admitted to hospital with suspected appendicitis, they kept me in and about 11:00am they told me that my blood results showed no sign of infection or imflammation and that they were keeping me in, I threw up just about every bit of food I ate and I had a dull pain in my right lower side, which hurt most when pressed. Now and again the pain would radiate to the left side and then fade away. They suspected I may have ovarian cysts and gave me the choice to go home Monday afternoon as an ultrasound scan could take upto two weeks as I am not high priority. Since coming home I have thrown up about 14 times, and every bit of food I have eaten is now in a bucket beside my bed. I am a sixth form student and cannot be doing with extended time off and I don't understand what could be wrong with me. Sometimes I even throw up water after having some, my tummy feels a bit hard now and then and im feeling weak, has anyone had the same and actually been diagnosed? I just need my mind putting to rest or maybe some advice. Thank you!

(PS, it is definitely not food poisoning)

  • Pardon me, but how exactly do you know you're not pregnant? Did they give you a pregnancy test at the hospital? Because that's the only way to be 100% sure and your symptoms sound similar to that of an ectopic pregnancy, which is more likely to happen when using hormonal birth control than a regular pregnancy. Also, did they determine whether or not it was infact an ovarian cyst? Those can cause nasty symptoms too, and need to be surgically removed promptly.

Yeah they gave me a pregnancy test basically as soon as I got there and they took my temperature and so on. And not yet they're suspecting it, They haven't given me the scan yet, they're treating me as an outpatient, also they said they will not be taking further action if it is indeed ovarian cysts, they called them "normal."

No I think the only test they bothered to give me was a blood test.

Symptoms can be similar to appendix.

You should probably consult a doctor because we here at Is It Normal are retarded and not eligible to help you with your medical issue.

I think it is absurd that they would discharge you if you can't keep food down. You can't top off someone's electrolytes and tell them their good to go.

Have you tried organic yogurt? It is great for repopulating your gut with good bacteria and enzymes after retching your brains out.

What about elevated temperature? The Norovirus can knock you down for 2 or 3 days. Nothing is even remotely appetizing or tastes right. If you are sensitive to vomiting then you may not be able to hold down food for the course of the fever. Norovirus is highly contagious.

In the day & age Ultrasound equipment is standard fair. If they thought you might be pregnant or have a ovarian cyst, why didn't they send you directly to a women's clinic. A maternity clinic ought to have Ultrasound technician on staff 24/7. And if a doctor in a Maternity clinic can't read an ultrasound they are incompetent.

I don't know if I would consider this a normal or not normal thing,I'd just say there are tons of things that could be wrong with you,go to doctors and get stuff checked. Becuase I'm not a doctor I can't really help you.
