Thoughts on the myers-briggs personality types?

I was wondering what everyone's opinion on the '16 personality types' theory was. Also, if you have taken the test, what type are you? I'm curious to know which is most popular.

I'm apparently ISFP. It seems accurate, but also doesn't.

I remember a Dilbert cartoon where Dogbert was coaching this test and said "Most of you are here." and pointed to the "ugly and stupid" corner. Lol

I love Myers-Briggs. It is the quickest way to understand people at a workable level that I have ever seen. I'm an INTJ.

      I'm supposedly INTJ as well.

I guess that fits me fairly well, but I'm always a bit suspicions of tests that supposedly tell you all about yourself after asking a few questions.

The Wikipedia article on INTJ says it's one of the rarest types, so it's strange that the survey here is currently showing a definite skew towards it.

Or maybe not, since everyone here is weird in one way or another...

It seems like a lot of people who take that test vote on how they wish they were, ending up with a lot of INTJs. I got it the first couple times I took the test, but then being more focused on not exaggerating my answers, I get INTP. You can also look up the individual letters' meanings to see if it truly describes you.

That just says that there is a bigger concentration of INTJ in this area. Not they are less rare. Its like being redhead. Its very rare but apperently common in particular places like Ireland.

Haha yeah, let's just pretend that never happened. I like Map of the Problematique, MK Ultra, well pretty much everything actually xD Have any cool/strange interests? :)

It was developed by two house wives with no psychology background by modifying the results of a previous psychologist's study. A study which said psychologist had already retracted saying he was mistaken,Furthermore no significant studies have ever been conducted to assess the accuracy of the myers-briggs theory.

So it is an untested formula developed by two people with no training or experience in the field, from an original failed experiment.

If we pretend they never dabbled in dubstep, I love everything. Like some of them are so relatable to how my mind works and every song makes you think :P how about you?

Im an INTJ and have a lot of Narcassist tendencies. I had an ENFP freind once who was the stereotype of that type. It was all fun till they decided to share all my secrets because secrets are lying and lying is always wrong. Destroyed my reputation ruthlessly and I had a hard time running damage control and just gave up and left.

  • Infp. Apparently I have a lot of empathy, which I like. I can judge other peoples feelings and make them feel better. A bit rare, though, so hard to find friends like myself.

I haven't looked into this in any detail, but I don't see why only identical personality types should be compatible.

Take the introversion/extroversion element for example. I'm pretty introverted, but my most successful relationships have been with women who are extroverted. They've pulled me out into the world a little, while I allowed them to know there's somebody at home for them, and they could be sure I wasn't out raising hell and chasing other women.

A total party animal and someone who never wants to leave the house and is terrified of meeting new people obviously wouldn't be a good mix, but most people aren't at the extremes of any spectrum, and any successful relationship requires both people to be a little flexible and understanding of the other's needs.

I'm an INFJ. Pretty accurate apart from me being sort of indecisive (in menial things). Apparently morgan freeman and galadriel from lotr would be an INFJ, fair enough?

iEatZombies_ is also an INFJ, and she loves Myers-Briggs just like I do.

I'd like an INFJ friend one day, I think it'd be fascinating.

It is often suggested that you date a different type that matches on 3 of the 4 scales. As a INTJ, I feel a very peaceful harmony with ISTJ women. Although, I also sense that INFJs are much better at hot monkey love in bed.
