I'm cautiously neutral. Or maybe even just a tiny bit optimistic. I feel we did need a shakeup, and it looks like we got one. I also believe Trump is less crazy than his campaign rhetoric would suggest. I think he's an a actor first, and I know bluster when I see it.

Perhaps my biggest worry at this point is that he'll turn into just another payed-off politician, rather than really fearing he'll do anything apocalyptic.

Lol exactly. For the people telling everyone to shut up, it's not going to solve a thing. People have a right to voice there opinions. If you don't like it dismiss yourself of isitnormal.Problem solved. Complaining and whining isn't going fix anything.

This is the way of life now. We may have a new beginning we don't like but now it's time to move forward. I still hate Trump but I guess it is what it is. There's nothing we can do about it but let it be.

Does not change the fact that Trump isn't a great choice either. A lot of people forget that his businesses have been sued for racism, and that there's video evidence of him being derogatory towards women. And the one trait that everyone likes about him is in fact incorrect. People think he's a good choice because he's honest, but if they watched the debates, they would know that Donald is very clearly dishonest about what he's said in the past. If the Democratic side had Bernie Sanders running instead of Hillary, they would have won for sure.

Regardless, even though I do not like or support Donald Trump, I accept the fact that he's my President now. The people of America have spoken, and they've decided he's the lesser of two evils. Obviously I don't agree with them, but I don't want to sound like the Republicans did when Obama was elected. As disappointed in this country that I am, I will never stoop as low as Conservatives did in the 2008 and 2012 elections.

Hillary clinton is so much worse than trump. Clinton lied about way worse shit than trump ever could. I guess we will have to agree to disagree. But honestly I was a Rand Paul supporter. It was all about the lesser of two evils with trump and clinton.

Bernie is a great guy, but his plans were totally unrealistic. The issue is that if he had run and won, he first of all wouldn't be able to get any of his plans through congress because they are so far left, and also, his plans probably didn't really add up.

He was basically saying that he was going to give everyone everything for free. Free college, free healthcare, pay off student loans... and trust me, that's sounds awesome. But his main way of getting that money, at least from what I heard, was to make rich people and big companies pay more tax. Correct me if I'm wrong on that.

I saw a news segment where someone actually added up the amount of money that would be received if you taxed the top 1% of people in this country 100% tax... if you took all their earnings for the whole year, we wouldn't even be able to pay for one year of medicare or something like that. There is no way that just taxing rich people is going to bring in enough to pay for what Bernie wanted.

Sadly, that's what Hillary started advocating for, too. I saw a speech where she said all the things she wants to do and then she said "And the wealthy are going to pay for it!". Maybe she was just doing this to get support from the Bernie people, but again, totally unrealistic. It's not enough money to get everything they want. Not even half of it probably.

I think he's a great guy, and perhaps I would have not minded him winning if he was running, but his ideas needed work.

The dems should have picked a sanders/warren ticket instead of Hillary. She is the bitchy boss at the office who is in middle management. That no one respects because of who she stepped on and slept with to get there.

There are protests going on, I am terrified. We are all going to die, I think a war is coming. If its not world war 3 first, there is going to be a complete revolution. I think we would have had the same amount of protests if Hillary won from Trump supporters. We are royally fucked.

I think he is a smart man and had quite a clever strategy for running a presidential campaign. He had considered entering the race several times in the past two decades, and has changed his political affiliations many times, so he has had plenty of time to think about how best to capture the public imagination and exactly what the common American wants to hear. I don't agree with lots of what he has proposed in terms of policy but let's face it he knows how to get votes. He knew in the primaries exactly how to distinguish himself from the other Republican candidates and how to make himself the most memorable out of the dozen or so other choices on his party's ticket.

However he is also the most opportunistic person you will ever meet. He is smart enough to know what he can and can't get away with. He is infamous for taking advantage of tax loopholes and perhaps not explicitly violating laws but behaving in rather immoral and unethical ways. But I don't necessarily blame him for that. He was born rich and built on his family's fortune by being greedy, manipulative, and through the force of his persona. As it stands right now, he managed to outsmart Hillary as well as all the polls predicting that she would win the election easily. He tapped into something deep in the American psyche.

Trump alienated a large portion of the electorate. He has criticized everyone except white men, but he was still able to get strong support across the demographics of the nation. It seems that people were determined to vote for him no matter what he said. Hillary thought she would get massive support from women, but that did not turn out to be true. She thought that Hispanics would vote for her in huge numbers but they did not, despite Trump criticizing Mexicans repeatedly throughout his campaign. She also believed that African Americans and other minorities would sway the vote in her favor but they were not as optimistic about her as they had been about Obama in 2008 and 2012. She also didn't campaign very much at all in states such as Wisconsin and Michigan where the Democrats believed they would win easily.

That being said, the Democrats ran a fantastic campaign. Hillary did everything right, she represented excellence, character, competence, experience, and professionalism. Unfortunately several scandals in the media hurt her chances in the end. The party was divided somewhat as she did not appear to have the full support of all Democrats who had previously showed favor for Bernie Sanders. I think she could have optimized her chances by selecting Sanders as her vice presidential running mate, considering if he would have agreed of course. They ran a great race but inevitably the American people voted for change over what they perceived as the "establishment". Granted, she won the popular vote, which means Hillary actually received more votes than Trump, but Trump prevailed because of the electoral college.
