No family. Most dead, and the rest just distant relatives that I've never met, and don't care to.

It depends on the level of toxicity I am willing to risk exposing myself to on a particular day...

      I'm with you!!

I NEVER phone a single member of my immediate family, though they phone me - just to irritate me or moan about some trivial nonsense!

I don't talk to my family, or at least I try not to. My sister tends to text me or FB me constantly telling me to call home and talk to my mom. I hate talking on the phone (especially to family) so I avoid it. I haven't talked to my mom since July when I was visiting. I haven't talked on the phone to any family member since April and that was to inform my mom that I was moving from Florida to NC that following week.

I dislike my family because of how they have, and still do treat me. They see me as a degenerate who has royally screwed up her life. They judge my every action and I can't stand it so I just avoid them completely. I have taken them out of my life for the most part. I don't regret it..

I'm age 20, and a Junior in college. I moved out 4 months ago, and I'm currently visiting my family for the 3rd time. I spent every vacation/time off with them during the fall quarter, with them, so that I wouldn't hurt their feelings. Also, in between those visits I spoke with my sisters and parents a couple times a week on facebook.

However, this month-long winter break I've spent with them has caused me to remember how boring it is here, and how I will never be seen as an adult in the eyes of my family members. This seems pretty normal in comparison to my friends. But, when I feel like every time I come back to my family's home or speak with them, I'm falling back into the past, instead of trying to make my own life.

If you're in college, you should talk to your family 1nce a month, in my opinion. Then, after you're established, you can spend more time with them.

I talk to my sister who lives down the street almost daily through text and phone. I talk to my mom and dad who live a few hours away and visit at least a few times a month to as much as a few times a week. I don't see my family as an annoyance or people to get away from.
