Those motivational feel-good quotes don't help me at all

Writing this because I've just gone past the zillionth post with loads of "be yourself"s and "you're beautiful"s etc.
They don't help me at all. That person is calling hundreds of people "perfect" and doesn't know me, and I always think that I'm an exception. Thanks and all, but I'm really not, I'm actually an ass.
Sometimes, it makes me feel worse, because my esteem is low and then you see these things all about LOOKS. That's one thing I don't care about, at least.
Is it normal that, while I know people are well-meaning, it doesn't uplift me in the slightest?

Every time I see some saccharine, idealistic motivational quote on Facebook I can't help but cringe and roll my eyes

Self esteem is developed by actions worthy of being held in high esteem not feel good slogans.

I prefer ones which have a more negative vibe: "Who will remember your name?"

The sappy ones like "Mr Right is looking for you right now" just don't work.

I saw a demotivational quote along those lines,

" if you believe that there's someone out there for everyone then just think, your soulmate is out there right now, fucking someone else "

"Life sucks, but being dead isn't so great either".
    I like that one myself.

Pay no mind to the trite murmurings of thoughtless self-absorbed humans who never care to ruminate on the effect of their word vomit which they spew mindlessly upon others.

However, there are plenty of thoughtful/intellectual quotes that can boost the psyche if you let them.

  • Oh, and another thought: is your esteem really that low if you're cheered up by this kind of thing?

I cringe at those things too "Everyone is perfect blabla" No, truth is that not everyone are perfect -_- Fucking far from it, and now I'm only focusing on personality.

Whilst I posses some great qualities I also have a whole lot that aren't that likeable, I know this and try my best to behave as well as I can BUT don't come here telling me that I'm perfect the way I am because that's just bullshit.

If you acknowledge that you are an ass and this makes you feel bad, work on it! There's a lot of self-help avalible out there.

    • I'm not sure there is a lot available, and besides, it's not that easy.
I do see where they are coming from - everybody has flaws and that's OK, I just have this pessimistic mentality that they could be telling ANYBODY they're "perfect" and they don't try to work on themselves as a person, because no one should "change who they are".
