This really pisses me off.

My sister and I were very close until recently. The problem? She started dating a black guy. This is not normal to me. But because it's my sister I;m trying to cool out by getting a few more opinions. I love my sister dearly. That has not changed. I just can't warm up to this guy she's seeing. I mean he's seems nice enough. But he's black. I just can't get over that. My mom and dad are acting as if nothing is wrong. In fact, my dad has told me that if I say anything or do anything to offend this guy then I am going to have a very serious problem with him. I tell myself to just accept this guy. But I can't so far. I want my sis to be happy and marry the man of her dreams. But being with a black guy is not normal to me. I can't shake that feeling. I need help with this. OK?

I have a dream that sister's boyfriends will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character!

Is it his fault he's black? He can't help it. Therefore he does not deserve your hate because HE DIDNT DO ANYTHING. Also skin colour is skin colour, what's the big deal? I don't understand racists...

I find this normal as I used to feel the same way about interracial relationships. But as long as the dude treats her right then what's the issue? It's okay to be suspicious and you're just looking out for your sister (you probably just had bad experiences with black folk), but this guy might potentially become your brother-in-law (meaning you'll have to deal with him all the time as well as any hypothetical nieces/nephews he provides you). So please try to open yourself to him. I don't think you have issues but I do think that you need to give him a chance.

  • Maybe deep down you feel threatened or jealous of black men with white women. Maybe the whole idea sexually frustrates you, or maybe you are just a casual racist.

You are racist. While it is usually frowned upon by modern societal standards, there technically is no law that says you can't be a racist. It's your business, your right. If you want to keep piece with your family, you can keep it to yourself. Or, you could always excuse yourself from the family. I'm sure that you love them and only want the best for them, but your views are something of which none of them will agree with. You don't have to tell them the real reason why you are becoming distant towards them.
