This old guy at my company is so obviously racist

He’s extra friendly to our black co-worker, instead of treating him the same as everyone else.

He is overcompensating because he’s one of these guilt-ridden liberal baby boomer dumbasses.

Damian goes along with it because the dumb ass is old and puts a lot of effort into being nice to him.

Damian is one of those super dark blacks, like straight out of the darkest jungles of Africa. He's totally nice though and I feel like someone should tell the old guy not to treat him differently, because it makes him uncomfortable.

    • I am, I'm super racist. We're still friends. We joked about the old guy at lunch a couple times.

You need to stop trying to analyse your co-worker's behavior, get on with your own work and mind your own business.

If Damian is uncomfortable he can speak up for himself. Do you actually know he's uncomfortable or are you just guessing?

    • He told me the old guy is scared of him. He bumped into him in the hallway one time and the old guy almost peed his pants. Pathetic.

Did you ever stop to think that the reason he's nice to Damian is maybe because he might actually LIKE him and NOT a racist?? The question really should be WHY YOU SEEM TO BE SO FOCUSED ON RACISM...

I guess I don't see the harm in telling the old boomer to just treat Damian like anyone else. I'm sure the old dude probably grew up in a world that was very different than the way things are today.

  • Every time I hear someone say they aren't racist, the word liar pops into my head. And when people like your co worker come around, I think super racist.

I've lived in Selma and I've lived in Cali and one thing I've always believed is that we are all inherently racist. We get along with the black guy in the room until he leaves, then make enuendos about stereotypes, or make remarks alluding to how not racist we are.

The truth is, racism is not only common, but actually normal. We are naturally more favorable to people with similarities to ourselves. Similarities in people like the way we speak or dress, or even our skin color attract us to each other. It's just human nature. To be honest, I would rather live in a community filled with white people like me than with say, black people. And it's not because I hate them, or believe I'm superior or anything like that. I just relate better with people like myself.
