This is going to sound ridiculous...

...but I'm TERRIFIED of goats.
Like, no kidding. I'm not sure why! They're so little and harmless, so I can't really explain what there is to be afraid of, but they scare the hell out of me!

My family recently took a trip to a zoo. I almost burst into tears upon the sight of them... I literally ran the other way as soon as I saw them. My cousins went to pet them, and even after washing their hands, I didn't want to touch them.

I sound like "the pickle girl" off of Maury or something, I'm sure... (Not sure what I'm talking about? Youtube it or something.)

Is it normal?
I've never heard of anyone else being afraid of a certain animal. Usually other people are afraid of animals as a whole.
(I'm afraid of small cats too, because of their unpredictableness, but goats? I just can't explain myself.)

Everyone has a fear, fear is just a reaction created by your body to make you avoid 'dangerous' situations, your body perceives goats as dangerous. It's normal. And yes there exist fears for other animals, like chickens.

What on earth? Goats? I suppose that's something new, and it sounds a bit silly but perfectly believable; I always feel nervous around dogs. I don't cry. I just feel nervous like it's going to jump up and rip my nose off.

i know what you mean about the small cats, im not afraid of them but the same unpredictability thing goes for me with mice and frogs and stuff, as far as the goat thing goes, thats just a phobia, an irrational fear, you can sometimes fix stuff like that with therapy or hypnosis, or you could just live with it, but yeah its normal most people have an irrational fear of something

Oh, and also, more people worldwide drink goat's milk than cow's milk. More food for thought.

Also, I ate goat cheese this one time...
It made me feel like a goat was going to pop out from under the dinner table and take it's cheese back... :D

I actually grew up on a large ranch where there were many goats all over the place, probably about 20 at most any given time. Although I find it a bit odd that you consider yourself terrified of them, I'll also let you know that you're not missing much.

Goats are filthy, nasty creatures that will defecate anywhere and everywhere, and will eat damn near anything. I mean ANYTHING! I've even seen where one had eaten chunks off of a screwdriver handle! Of course there's the annoying sound they make too, but that's harmless except to one's patience.

Don't get me wrong, goats can even be trained to be house pets, but it's not terribly common, especially for civilized people. In their natural habitat; however, they can be mean and even violent. Male goats have horns for a reason you know, and they WILL use them if not trained better. I'm sure the ones at the zoo have been around humans for quite long enough to be generally tame.

I think your fear is somewhat similar to people's natural fear of snakes. Instinctually, you're not sure what to make of them because you've probably never seen them before. There's not much to really like about them, but you shouldn't be terrified of them.

As a matter of fact, some goats are naturally terrified of humans if you run at them. Some of them will be so scared that they will pass out immediately and fall to the ground!

BTW, deer are part of the goat family.
    You like Bambi?

    Help any?

      Bambi sure wasn't scary,
but I'm sure if I came across her (him?) in real life, I'd poo my pants. :D

      Animals just weird me out.
      Especially goats. :O
