We have been stocking up on more groceries in case the virus takes over, and we are forced to stay inside our homes.

I'm in self-imposed isolation after travelling on a long-haul coach to the UK full of Milanese and Venetians. I can't have my father getting sick because of me; he wouldn't survive.

Oh Ruthie, dear, please call home. Your friends at IIN have not heard from you in a month. Everyone is just terribly worried. Even the chat room conversation has been about grave concerns that you were infected with covid19 in a motor coach of sick Italians, and may have died. A simple "Hi guys" would be an overwhelming relief.

    Why are you worried?
    It's nothing but a test:
How fast will a new biological weapon spread?
    How will different nations react?
How prepared are countries, states, transportation, hospitals, infrastructure?
    It's just a test.

Naw, the Clinton's cashed in a favor with the Chinese so that it would correspond with the election, trash the U.S economy and leave Trump unable to run on a good fiscal standing.

I like the thought behind your theory though. I wouldn't put it past anyone.

trump will win in 20 regardless.
Because he faces no real challenge.
I dont place the blame for this on the clintons.
Though, china was given most favored trade nation status under bill.

I know he will, although I never count eggs before they are laid.

I just find it amazing how governments work.

I mean a flu, with a 3% percent mortality rate rate that gives you pneumonia, also with a bit higher mortality rate, kills you.....fuck shocking. Whays diff than yesterday people. Nothing. The media should be fucking ashamed of themselves.

I'm saying the current test run is nothing to worry about.
Don't think about it to hard.
Don't Think about the next one.
This current model is pretty impressive.
        But it's also very mild.
The death rate is way to low.
The effective strain needs to have a 70% rate.
        But don't worry about that.
I'm sure things will be fine.
This virus will come and go.
Just like aids, h1n1, sars, etc.

It's not the virus itself I think is dangerous, it's the chinese government using it as an excuse to detain people and possibly kill them. We already know they're putting muslims in concentration camps, and that they used extreme force against the Hong Kong protesters, including sending Triads down to attack people indiscriminately in public places. Now they're forcibly keeping people in their homes by welding doors and windows shut on apartment blocks and chasing people and forcing them into boxes in the back of pickup trucks like stray dogs.

The current death toll in China is supposedly around 2000 which is miniscule when you consider the size of their population, which makes me suspicious of why they are reacting so aggressively.

            That is'nt your problem.
            Enjoy you're chinese made
I phone, tablet, car, food, clothing....
            Endless list.
This current test will not effect you to much.
            Chinese slavery will continue.
            Just don't think about it.
            Everything is fine.
isnt that what your leader said?
            Its all fake news.

They say it lives on surfaces for up to five days. I work at a shipping company and everything is made in China. So I assume my chances of getting it are kinda high. I been trying to wash my hands when I remember. My biggest fear is getting it and giving it to my toddler.

Yes, it has caused me to change my plans. I looked up the statistics and saw that you're far more likely to get struck by lightning than to catch coronavirus. When my shopping runs out I'm going to buy a lot of food from Chinese restaurants, since the prices have dropped significantly due to the hysteria.

I just wish there was a local Chinatown I could go to so I could jump on the bargains!

I stopped eating at restaurants. People preparing food either aren't educated, or simply don't care, and often come to work sick. They'll cough on your food without thinking twice about it.

It's just an excuse for the chinese government to round people up and kill them. It is a real virus but it was released deliberately after the hong kong protests so they could close borders etc and kill who they want without anyone knowing. The first scientist who identified the virus early on mysteriously died suddenly. They obviously wanted it to spread more before letting the public know about it.

If it infected every single person in the entire world then it wouldn't kill anywhere near half of them. The mortality rate is very low.

It would kill 3% of them. The 1918 (dates??) Spanish flu was way dealier.

Then why are they bothering to mention it. I get on average the flue every second or third year and the cold probably 7 to 8 times a year and none of these are mentioned or on tv. If this beervirus is no more harmful then the common cold why is it not being treated so.

        • bigbudchonga

Because the media capitalize on the hysteria. Big networks live for something like this when they can rile people up and grab the attention of nations, it's the whole premise of how they get a network share and make money.

The actual statistics for people who have caught the virus, away from East Asia, are tiny. The amount of people who have died from the virus, compared to population sizes, is negligible. If trends continue, even with the steep rise in cases we're seeing now, around 7x more people will be struck by lightning this year than will die from corona virus.

"Overall, the CDC estimates that 12,000 and 61,000 deaths annually since 2010 can be blamed on the flu. Globally, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimates that the flu kills 290,000 to 650,000 people per year."

Not even as deadly as the normal flu.

We don't have time to sit around with our thumbs up our asses wondering about fucktard pandemics that never amount to shit.

H1n1, swine flu, Ebola, bird flu, aids, all fucking bullshit.

              You die when you die.

There are BILLIONS of people in this world. What 4000 have died from this.....4000 people died today on the way to work. So stfu.

Lol are you really comparing how many people the seasonal flu kills in a year to how many the Coronavirus has killed in its first month? Nobody knows how deadly it’s going to end up being, but Coronavirus has definitely killed a much higher percentage of those who get it than the seasonal flu so far, and parroting Putin’s puppet/protege’s propaganda is just going to make things worse.

I love the Corona although there's a chance I might die of it. A lot of possible contamination in my area. Probably a matter of days before I contract that infection. Maybe I'll survive as I am still young. Anyway, I am thankful to Corona. It's God's miracle: it has allowed me to get back at so many assholes who I hated before. Maybe I will not hate them again. But I enjoy their pain and suffering. There's a German expression for that: Schadenfreude.
