The way people treat feminists is unfair

Yes I am a feminist. No I do not hate men. Everyone seems to think we’re all the same, but we’re really not.
People seem to think that a feminist always means a self centered woman with no understanding of others, and that’s just not true!

I believe in equal rights for people of all genders, sexual orientations, racial backgrounds, and religious beliefs. I don’t believe hate of any kind should be tolerated and I’m ashamed of people who call themselves “feminists” who have demonstrated hatefulness towards others.

There’s also different types of feminism and within each type there are people with differing beliefs. It’s not all set in stone.

I personally chose to be a feminist as a way to stand up against abuse and empower myself and others. It has nothing to do with hating or discrimination.
Yet it seems like when I even mention being a feminist, I get people attacking me and trying to start a fight.
I’ll probably get attacked for posting this as well but it needs to be posted. It’s unfair that everyone else can be human but because of our beliefs, feminists are automatically labeled and downgraded as lower than dogs.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Because the label has been hijacked. It is now associated with the lunatics who have the loudest voice.

I believe in many ideals of feminism (that are to the benefit of both women AND men) but the word is now associated with the idiots who spout hatred and anger. They make so much noise and fuss that they get seen as speaking for everyone when they have actually perverted it from its original purpose.

    • True. I’m planning on writing a book on feminism because of that. I think it would be really helpful to help others see what it really is instead of what it’s been made into.

Sadly, I think that will only fall on deaf or brainwashed ears.

well if the undefined group needs a book to identify who it hates then its a cult too. Today women see feminists as man hating , and they earned the reputation among women. The men always knew it.

        • ??? I'm confused as to what you're saying. The book is to dispel the myths about feminism and show why we still need it. It doesn't support hatred towards anyone.

There's a BIG difference between a feminist, and a woman who simply wants equal rights. Feminists are haters of men, especially white men, freedom/capitalism, feminists were the architects of the hate group BLM. Feminists speak through actions, and are treated the way they treat others, so quite whining.

    • You have no idea what feminism actually means. Look up the true meaning of feminism. I’m a feminist but I have many friends who are guys and I view all races as the same. I don’t know where you got that from, but it’s not from true feminism.

    • I don’t hate anyone. Feminism does not automatically equal hate. That’s a huge misconception. The only people I truly hate are ones that deserve it, such a rapists and pedophiles.

why does hating rapist and pedophiles make you a feminist? I would think that hate would make you a christian conservative.

        • Anyone with a conscience should hate pedophiles and rapists. What does that have to do with being a conservative? And no, im not a conservative.

you should probably write your feminist manifesto before you "take action" making people do your will. LOL like the rest of the manifesto writing nut jobs.

Feminists deserve hatred. Feminism is an evil political ideology based on lies.

    • How? We simply believe in equal rights for men and women. And no one deserves hatred. With the exception of psychopaths, everyone is a human being with feelings and the ability to feel pain. Why would you want to intentionally cause pain to another sentient being? Feminists should have just as much right to be treated good as everyone else.

You most definitely will get attacked here but I know there’s at least a couple other “normal” feminists on here and irl. It sucks the crazy idiots of the group ruined it, but personally I don’t understand why even associate with that group anymore? It is no longer needed in the first world. If you want equality isn’t that just an egalitarian or something? Why does it have to be female centric..that just seems more dividing

    • Because of misogyny. Despite the positive changes that have been made towards equality, women are still treated as lesser even in the American culture. When a woman is raped or sexually harassed, people are still blaming her for it. Instead of comforting her and punishing the perpetrator, they often ask questions like "what was she wearing" or "was she drinking". It really shouldn't matter what someone is dressed like or how much they've been drinking, rape and sexual assault is wrong. Yet because of our male dominated culture, the rights and feelings of women are put in the back seat to men. And unfortunately, that's just America. In other parts of the world things are even worse. Many Muslim countries don't even have basic legal protections for women and they can be raped or killed by their own husbands without any form of justice.

i agree that it shouldn't matter what people are wearing or how drunk they are but that's not really how life works when the world has so many thoughtless idiots in it you have to look out for, is it really "sexism" or just plain stupidity/psychopathy that's a problem? because on the other side when men get raped those same type of idiots will say like "did you like it?" or "how does that happen?" and equally disrespectful and dismissive

        • I agree. However the difference is that men are generally taken more seriously. When it happens to them, they are believed. They might be made fun of more because of the twisted conception society has towards male rape or harassment victims, but they tend to get justice much faster after they've reported it then women do. Women are just accused of being liars or "attention whores" when they come out about it, and those that are perceived to be telling the truth often have to endure merciless interrogation about their experience.
