The suicide hotline made me feel even worse...

I posted a story about suicide on is it normal and they directed me to a suicide chat. The suicide chat made me feel even worse. The dude told me that he didn't think I was depressed. Now I'm just confused. is it normal for these services to be useless?

Feeling Suicidal?
We couldn't help but notice that you might be asking about things related to suicide...
If that's not the case, please ignore this message.
But, if that is the case, please, please, please call this hotline and talk to someone about it. Or, visit one of these websites and get some help.
Unfortunately IIN isn't the best place for you to be asking about this. Check out the above websites or call one of the hotlines instead. They can help. Really. We know what we're talking about. Call. Do it. Please.
Remember that everything gets better with time.
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

I always tell people not to do the suicide hotlines. Sure there's a good chance that there are honest people working there, but they are NOT licensed therapists, just volunteers.
Go in and talk to a therapist please.
They can evaluate you and treat you if you need to be treated.
The sooner you get help the sooner you will be closer to feeling better. <3

Sadly, it's what I'd expect from anything promoted by Udi. It's a tokenistic gesture to cover his own damn arse, nothing more.

As others have said, seeing a professional is a good first step. I hope things start looking up for you.

Yup. It's fucked that there are people so sick and twisted they would do that to people seeking help.

Sounds like several on IIN, actually.

I've had some bad experiences with so-called support lines, but also some good ones.

With the bad ones, I just told them they were making me feel worse and that I was hanging up and calling in again to get someone else - once I got the same person the second time!

I've never thought calling them was a good idea. No chance on a therapist?
