The science channel logo is to big.

Does anyone else think that the Science Channel logo (in the lower right portion of your television screen) is too big?

I've emailed the Science Channel and they tell me that viewers prefer the big logo because viewers can more readilly and easily find the channel.

In other words, the Science Channel is apparently saying that viewers are far too incompetent (or simply too stupid) to find a smaller logo.

In short, the bigger the screen, the bigger the oversized logo is -- and sometimes, the logo partially obscures something important on the television screen (i.e., Hubble Telescope photos, etc.).

Seriously, you last two posters really missed the point of the internet to the majority of users. If nothing else, the internet is a great place to converse about trivialities. If you dislike it so much, why oh why would you bother coming here where almost everything is trivial in so far as that it doesn't immediately relate to you or your existance? Does it really matter that some guy likes to wear women's underwear? Does it really matter that some girl somewhere picks her nose? How does this really affect you? Is it really important? Even if you're the one ASKING the question, it's not like it's so important you couldn't live without it. The only reason I could think of that this website would be really important is if you only live to harass other people. Kinda ridiculous. But then again, isn't it trivial that I posted all this?

You're a tard. I think your mom missed the whole point when she chose not to abort you.

That being said, did it not occur to you that the question is "Is it normal?" and that the two guys you refer to are answering "no" to that question? Great job being a complete idiot...and go get a job and stop complaining about posts on this website. *You* are a triviality. And by your assine comment, it is clear as day that you waste your days fingering yourself instead of actually doing something useful with your life. You are worthless.

To the original post: yeah, find something better to do with your life than complaining about a small icon at the bottom of your screen. You're not missing much because of the small obstruction of the lunar landscape caused by a logo. It's not like some tree growing on the moon is being obscured by the logo. If you want high res images go to nasa.gov.

  • I can't comment on the Science channel logo since I don't get that station, but this topic brings back some memories when I first got cable back in the eary 1980's. Back then most channels (as I remember) didn't even have on-screen logos and the first channel that I can remember that had a logo was MTV! They had some great music videos on (I think MTV had just started broadcasting around that time if you can believe that) and that stupid (relatively small!) logo got in the way of the great videos. I was so upset about MTV ruining my viewing pleasure with their stupid logo that I got the phone number from my cable company for MTV and called them up and complained to MTV about their logo. Obviously nothing changed, but since then obviously just about every channel has some type of logo! You can likely blame MTV for starting the logo-on-the-screen concept because honestly I think they were the first one's to introduce the logo concept.

To be more on topic regarding large logos, yes, I would consider that to be an annoyance and there really is no reason why they can't scale-down the size of the logo. You may want to consider writing letters rather than phone calls; my experience is that letters of complaint get more action.

  • Once you know the channel number you don't need the huge logo.

    does it matter?

get a job or something, don't sit around complaining about a little icon in the corner of your TV.
