The modern personality, is it normal i want to question it?
I feel like everyone has to have the right set of beliefs and morals to be a normal young person in the western world. And everyone you are friends with has to have this thinking. The thing I don't like is uniformity and following. And it makes me want to question why are we thinking like this. Even if all this is supposed to be for a freer world, I still want to question.
Anyway the right way of thinking is:
1. Men and women are equal and don't have to fit into gender stereotypes such as men being strong and dominating and the ambitious breadwinners and women being gentle nurturing, wanting kids, being emotional etc.
The problem here is some people naturally do fit into these gender stereotypes and might fight it just to be a modern, cool, intellectual person.
2. Racism is wrong and always unfounded and the root causes for it are socio historic economic issues, slavery, prejudices, ignorance, lack of role models. No race is more predestined for violence and crime than another.
Problem: eveyone wants to protect their home and doesn't want to be invaded by something foreign in large numbers as they will comprise their identity, and safety due to tensions. black people have even been found to have more genes for serious aggression than white, yet everyone wants to ignore this just so we can fake it that it's not their fault they are beating up their kids, wives, joining gangs etc. Not to mention white guilt.
3. No one should ever be persecuted for the gender they are attracted to, or for not being attracted to the gender aspect of a person specifically, or for transitioning their gender in some way or not identifying with a specific gender. Lgbt people are natural and normal.
I got not problem with this except with the straight people who try to be bi just to be cool and sexually adventurous.
4. We all should vote for left wing political parties.
If political parties really help, then fine, left is better than right for anyone who isn't a small minded idiot.
5. We should support fair trade, organic food, and other enterprises to create a fairer world.
Problems: they make you stop thinking. You buy free range eggs and think you're doing your bit to save the world, so you don't question further, but the guidelines for "free range" are not necessarily a wide open field with the sky above them as the phrase "free range"suggests, but it sometimes is a slightly bigger cage than they had before, I think. Also fair trade, how fair is it really?
6. Not believing in God or being unsure about it, but not being religious.
Problems: I'm an atheist but faith in something is comforting and its part of being human. We just need to be smarter about it.
The only points I don't have a problem with are numbers 3 and 4.
