The human body is the most disgusting thing

We poo, we pee, we have boogers, we throw up, we are filled with weird stuff inside, we're living flesh covered in skin, we have ugly genitals, we have hair, we have saliva, we have veins.. and the list goes on and on.

So the deal is, how is it that we fall for such gross things? I seriously can't stand being a human at times. Besides the fact that we look terrible, we also do terrible things.

I want to be something else.
something wonderful and beautiful.
and being a human won't get me there at all.

  • No, no, no! :-)

It's sort of really cool, if you think about it from a different perspective.

Everything in our body has a purpose, even on a cellular level. It's really quite amazing. It's like we are organic robots.

Think about a car and what it takes to make it run; the engine, the transmission, the frame, etc. Now, think about how much more complex our human bodies are in a mechanical sort of way.

Everything that grows/lives on Earth is special like this, even human beings. Maybe we would look better if we were covered in nice soft fur???

thisisso is correct. everything has innards, and they are gross, everything poos and pees one way or another. furry things are cuiter for sure. but that's just the way things are. but what can we be, if not ourselves?

I really like the first comment. We're very complex machines. The way bodies work is beautiful. The more I've learned about molecular biology and phsysiology and all kinds of biological sciences only makes me love it all even more.

Just think about this. You wouldn't believe your fluids to be gross if your brain hadn't evolved for you to feel that way. It's how we protect ourselves, we feel disgust at things that could transmit infections from one organism to the other.

If not for this mechanism, poo, pee and boggers wouldn't be any different from water, salt, lava, oil, or anything inorganic or organic that doesn't cause you disgust.

It's the same atoms and molecules organized. It's your brain that is telling you that this is disgusting, because it's trying to protect you.

      "Its how we protect ourselves"
Thank You!!! That is such an intelligent observation, such a good way of coping with how wierd we are that should be spread from person to person across the whole world!

      Its all perspective. :)

This is the bodys nature: it is a collection of over three hundred bones, jointed by one hundred and eighty joints, bound together by nine hundred sinews, plastered over with nine hundred pieces of flesh, enveloped in the moist inner skin, enclosed in the outer cuticle, with orifices here and there, constantly dribbling and trickling like a grease pot, inhabited by a community of worms, the home of disease, the basis of painful states, perpetually oozing from the nine orifices like a chronic open carbuncle, from both of whose eyes eye-filth trickles, from whose ears comes ear-filth, from whose nostrils snot, from whose mouth food and bile and phlegm and blood, from whose lower outlets excrement and urine, and from whose ninety-nine thousand pores the broth of stale sweat seeps, with bluebottles and their like buzzing round it, which when untended with tooth sticks and mouth-washing and head-anointing and bathing and underclothing and dressing would, judged by the universal repulsiveness of the body, make even a king, if he wandered from village to village with his hair in its natural wild disorder, no different from a flower-scavenger or an outcaste or what you will. So there is no distinction between a kings body and an outcastes in so far as its impure stinking nauseating repulsiveness is concerned. But by rubbing out the stains on its teeth with tooth sticks and mouthwashing and all that, by concealing its private parts under several cloths, by daubing it with various scents and salves, by pranking it with nosegays and such things, it is worked up into a state that permits of its being taken as I and mine. So men delight in women and women in men without perceiving the true nature of its characteristic foulness, now masked by this adventitious adornment. But in the ultimate sense there is no place here even the size of an atom fit to lust after. And then, when any such bits of it as head hairs, body hairs, nails, teeth, spittle, snot, excrement or urine have dropped off the body, beings will not touch them; they are ashamed, humiliated and disgusted. But as long as anyone of these things remains in it, though it is just as repulsive, they take it as agreeable, desirable, permanent, pleasant, self, because they are wrapped in the murk of ignorance and dyed with affection and greed for self. Taking it as they do, they resemble the old jackal who saw a flower not yet fallen from a kiísuka tree in a forest and yearned after it, thinking, This is a piece of meat, it is a piece of meat. There was a jackal chanced to see A flowering kiísuka in a wood; In haste he went to where it stood: I have found a meat-bearing tree! He chewed the blooms that fell, but could, Of course, find nothing fit to eat; He took it thus: Unlike the meat There on the tree, this is no good. A wise man will not think to treat As foul only the part that fell, But treats as foul the part as well That in the body has its seat. Fools cannot in their folly tell; They take the body to be fair, And soon get caught in Evils snare Nor can escape its painful spell. But since the wise have thus laid bare This filthy bodys nature, so, Be it alive or dead, they know There is no beauty lurking there. For this is said: This filthy body stinks outright Like ordure, like a privys site; This body men that have insight Condemn, as object of a fools delight. A tumour where nine holes abide Wrapped in a coat of clammy hide And trickling filth on every side, Polluting the air with stenches far and wide. If it perchance should come about That what is inside it came out, Surely a man would need a knout With which to put the crows and dogs to rout.

Having just finished taking "Anatomy and Physiology" I couldn't disagree more. The body is so amazing and makes me feel like a complex beautiful work of art. Veins-small highways that carry an intricate and essential red fluid we call blood. Muscles- millions of cells that contract and expand to move our frame to carry out important tasks. The heart- a muscle that has been beating since you've been in the womb. The body is beautiful.

When veins stick out of a guys arm its really really hot- but not in the 'i use steriods and/or drugs' kind of stick out. I get your point- I hate it when people SMELL really bad the most honestly...but we're all humans so are bound to find some other human attractive. At least we're not spiders- can you imagine fucking a spider?

Exactly the type of comment I was looking for. Someone wanting to be a cute animal. You do know that they are just as disgusting. In fact. In a human body, there are over 100 trillion micro organisms. On a puppy, there are quite more... :D :D :D
      Have fun! :D

HONESTLY. FUCK THANK TOU FOR THIS. I swear to Jesus if one more smart-ass hipster cunt comments about how "other animals do it too!" I will FLIP A FUCKING CHAIR. Which I can't prove I will actually do, but just take my word for it.
What people don't get is yeah, most animals function the same one the inside but
    A) Humans are just fuckin' ugly on the outside, okay? Say what you want about cockroaches and spiders, I think they look pretty neat. Just me? Yes? No?
And the less personal one, B) it's the stupid bullshit societal shit humans make up around how they function. Animals have to remove waste from food. Humans can't do that, NOOOO OF FUCKING COURSE THEY CAN'T. They have to "shit". It has to be a big fucking deal. They have to make entire rooms and times and shit to do it. WHY CAN'T YOU JUST REMOVE THE WASTE LIKE A NORMAL ANIMAL? FUCK.
Also, genitalia. Oh sorry, vaginas and inside out vaginas (or dicks, penis, whatever.) Why do people like these???? They are disgusting and overly complicated, and worst of all, way too damn conspicuous!
Other animals don't "shit" or "fuck" or "piss" or whatever. They carry out functions needed for survival of themselves or their species. Humans have to make it a prominent part of their "society" bullshit. They have to act so immaturely about it.
Okay I'm done my man child rant. Completely agree with you, mate. God, humans are gross. Also sorry for annoying over-exaggerated sentences and plenty of cusses. Pretty sure nobody would read this if I didn't though, ha.

Being a human is they key to get 'there'.

Humans exude and create beauty outside of their body, rather than being a beautiful structure themselves.

They are 'living' creatures who can adapt and get better to no end.

What you see is not everything.

    First thought:
There is so much beauty in humanity, we just don't see it because of how much we have been messing with Nature, taking Nature apart and 'remodeling' it into into worlds of squareness and clutter that keep us stressed and confused when we could be living lives in a world of incredible beauty that is far more vast and intelligent than anything we could create. (And also known for its medicinal affects on the brain... try googling "City affect the brain" then "Nature affects the brain" if youd like some evidence for the kind of mind state that the modern world creates as opposed to the world of Nature).

    2nd thought:
Find a way back to Nature and take some time off from life, and bring a book on anatomy with you... breathe deep, clear your mind, and consider that you are floating in a universe of infinite beauty. When you really look at the human body from an objective and artistic perspective, it is both beautiful and bizarre... it is filled with images that evoke either nightmares or wonder, depending on the way you think about it, but, overall, it is genius. Consider how perfectly everything inside you works... how organs like the heart and the veins pulsing with life are working to keep you alive, along with millions of creatures too small for you to see. It is an incredible privilege to be living in such a complex and strangely amazing work of art, even if we don't always "get it."

    3rd thought:
And the same goes for life, despite all its horrors. Seek connection with God, even if you think of it as impossible... prayer and meditation have helped countless people to see the wonder of life. Look for things that are beautiful to you beyond the television screen or anything else considered "fantasy"... find the beauty of reality. Think in terms of purification, hope, rebirth, no matter how impossible these words may seem at times. Good luck, my friend. I am rooting for you. :)

P.S. I very much reccomend the book "Life" by lennart nilsson... just google photogrophy by lennart nilsson and you will find thousands of examples of how beautiful the inside of the body can be.

I agree, the human is very disgusting. Not only a little bit once in a while but a lot and almost all the time. Sooo many disgusting things. You named the most disgusting, but add these to your list: spit, bad breath, sweat, snot. We are apes with a little bit of brain.

Everytime I think of a aesthetic appealing girl and then think of these things I get so disgusted. Is THIS normal? :D

What I hate about the human body is how you have to TORTURE the fucking thing to make it look halfways decent (i.e., exercise.) Left to its own devices, my body wants to turn into a hideous, soft, pus-like, flabby heap of corruption.
And then there's the whole shitting/farting business, and how farts always want to come out when others are in earshot, and hide back inside me like a gopher when I head for the bathroom to let it out...
Cyborging volunteer, HERE! Look me up if you need a test subject, I'm fucking SICK of being a mutated chimpanzee (human.)

When you stop to consider that all living beings on Earth have many of the things you've described, what is your description of Beauty? Be it human, plant, animal, or insect; we all eat, have waste by-products which feed other forms of life on Earth, and none of us can consume any water that hasn't been drank before by something else in the history of the planet. Beauty is a frame of mind.
