The dilemma.

Let's say that you and a friend have just robbed a house. Among the objects that were stolen is a fairly new computer. When you and your partner-in-crime get home you decide to turn on the stolen computer. After digging through some files you find to your horror, pornography of the illegal sort. You now are in a dilemma. If you report your findings to the authorities you risk them finding out about the burglary you committed. If you get rid of the computer and tell no one about your findings, you'll feel guilty about not reporting it. If you sell the computer you risk making yourselves look guilty especially, since you knew what was on it.

Choose wisely as your actions have consequences.

  • Go back to the house and break in again

    Set the computer up

Call the police from across the street

Hand over the computer to the police as an anonymous tip.

    • I was thinking that could be a option but there's still the risk that it could be tracked to you. By then they would most likely have been alerted to the robbery. Unless, the owner of the computer panicked and refused to report the burglary.

I would give the computer to the police, then tell them the story on how I found it.

  • Throw it into the middle of the ocean somewhere/how.

  • leave it outside the police station at night with a typed note stuck on "Evidence"

Depends. Is it something like kiddie porn? Or are we talking bestiality? I'm pretty sure I would just ditch the computer either way, guilt wears off after time.

You keep your mouth shut so you don't incriminate yourself or sent you and your friend to prison because no one likes a rat.

I really hate thievery, so this is a difficult one for me.

I suppose it would depend on how bad the illegal porn was. If it was something like animal porn, I would probably wipe the hard drive clean and live with my guilt. If it was something truly heinous, like child porn or something involving death, I would report it to the authorities and accept the consequences for my thievery. That is assuming I still had morals though, most thieves do not.
