The brexit has happened ...

Yes everybody, the UK has voted to leave the EU. David Cameron has resigned, markets are tanking, and the a parliamentary shake-up is eminent. What do you think?

Good news. Henry VIII kicked out the worthless Catholic church, right? 2
Finally our national pride has been restored. God save the queen. 14
Economic storm clouds are ahead. Economies-of-scale are dead. 11
Brexit will prove to be a mess. American economic dominance is next. 11
The world is fucked anyway. So what? 17
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

Fk the EU. Its a good thing that they got out.

    Other countries should also leave.

Each country should be on their own.

There is no difference. They could have called it the United States of Europe.

Should be too meaning also, like also allowed to leave? Or should be two as in split down the middle?

If you mean split, Texas could easily be 6-8 states. California could be at least 5. And Hawaii is small, why would you split it?

            Secede

Those states don't need the US to survive. Maybe Hawaii needs the US but the Hawaiian people deserve their Island all to themselves, not taken over by America.

If Texas and California are gonna secede, then Michigan and Florida should too

In that case you could say that about many other states and smaller groupings of states.

    It's about time.
They want control of the immigration situation and exiting the EU was the only way they could see to do that.
    I wish them well.
The whole World is in the toilette anyway.

The referendum has happened, the exit itself will take ages and Cameron hasn't resigned yet, just said he will in (I think) October.

I think so, I also think the EU and the US will pretty much dissolve in the next few years as Russia and China gain strength.

Look for a shift in power and influence in the coming years

Unfortunately, those who don't like change are going to have to deal with the fact that change is happening at a rapid pace. It's not going to slow down, it's not going to stop. We're likely heading toward a next world war in our lifetime. Major power players have been tip toeing around one another for a long time now and history has not been listened to. As long as one country tries to gain an upperhand on another, there will always be a problem.
This all started because corporations thought they could promote 'friendly competition' amongst countries by making people compete for their livelihoods. When you play a sick game like capitalism, someone is going to get pissed off. All Leave voters did was decide to stop being toyed with by those those dragging money on a string.

    • If the EU forced people to compete for their livelihood, why aren't we headed toward a more peaceful Europe by dumping the EU?

I am soooooooo happy about the poll results as of Sun, Jan 26 1:45AM EST. Admit it, people. We all have at least a lil' goth in us. ;-)

I think American economic dominance will follow. Billionaire Donald Trump was over in Scotland to start shifting business relationships even before the votes were counted. Rupert Murdoch and others are ready to bounce. They would love to own all of Europe.

If the UK has any brains it will try and renegotiate a better position and remain within the EU.

If the EU has any brains, they will push the UK out first, then make them negotiate a return - with far less favourable conditions than they have now.

Germany rules Europe and has lots of problems. China rules the world and has lots of problems. Australia thinks it has problems, but it really doesn't.

We don't have increasing unemployment, homelessness, widening gap between privileged and the poor? I could go on, but Australia does have problems and I don't understand why you say we just think we have

UK already tried to negotiate better terms, with this referendum as kind of a threat to back it up. But guess what? They didn't get very good terms, and sure enough people voted to leave.

And anyway, it will look really bad for the politicians if they simply ignore the leave vote. The only somewhat graceful way to get out of it that I can see would be to have a second referendum "Really leave the EU, for sure?" and have it go the other way... which is possible since apparently a significant fraction of people voted to leave without thinking there was any chance they would win. But it's hard to know how many would actually change their minds.
