That's a no-no my friend

Am I sort of a racist, or just a plain old white american racist. Here's the problem: Generally speaking, I don't hate black people. I even our President is doing a decent job and his family is absolutely adorable. My problem is with black men who date or marry white women. I just can't stand it. But I have no problem with a white guy dating or marrying a black woman. As in the case of the Mayor of New York. Also a man with an adorable-looking family. A double standard? Yes. But why do I think this way. My wife tells me to stop acting like a fuckhead. But I think this is normal for a man of my background to think. Is it?

Where is this hatred coming from?

Just because it's normal or common doesn't mean it's okay.

What about an asian with a black man or a midget with a clown? Just saying man, people love who they love.

Yes, your views are racist - and, for future reference, proclaiming "I don't hate black people" does nothing to negate that. Especially when prefaced with "generally speaking".

Like Avant-Garde said, it's most likely an ingrained belief; one borne of ignorance. Ergo, your views are probably common or "normal" of people who are just as ignorant as you are, but that does not mean they are correct.

I'd suggest listening to your wife.

It isn't quite ignorance in this case so much as experience. OP full well knows and understands why they're wrong. Some things OP has experienced has shaped this logic in order to deal with those experiences. OP simply needs different experiences to reshape his perspective.

I disagree. To be ignorant is to be "lacking in knowledge or awareness" and/or "uneducated", so I'd still say it applies. The OP is evidently not aware of the outside world enough to understand his views are wrong - or why they are. Hence the question "But why do I think this way." The OP has acknowledged the double standard, but has then gone on to excuse himself by saying "But I think this is normal for a man of my background to think", which is a far cry from accepting that he is in the wrong.

Also, where does the OP state that they've experienced anything that could cause their prejudiced views? Unless that was just a presumption on your part?

I'd argue that the OP doesn't need different experiences, per se, but needs to educate himself and adjust his outlook.

I cannot believe there are still people like you. You have to be accepting! There is absolutely nothing wrong with interracial couples, or LGBT people. America at one point thought black people were bad. Now we look back and realize that we were horrible idiots. History is repeating itself. We have to love people no matter what. Sorry if I sound like a hippie.

Nobody has to love or accept anyone. They just have to deal with them.

It could be an ingrained belief or simply, that you feel that when African men get into relationships with Caucasian women, that they are decreasing the percentage of available Caucasian women for Caucasian men.

My parents have always been racist. And most of my siblings are too. I'm not but I still love my family. It's too late to try to change their minds. When people are from a different country and are raised a certain way, there isn't a damn thing anyone can do about it. Anyway, I'm used to it and I can't imagine my family not being racist.

Luckily, I came to America when I was 6. So, I'm more of a realistic thinker. Holla.

Also, if I dated a dark guy, my parents would be pissed. The darker, the non-merrier.

Lucky for me, I like vanilla errythang.

My white boyfriend gets a little disgusted when he sees a white girl/black guy couple but it doesn't really bother him. His friend and him joke around saying, "we lost another one" upon seeing one.

Hmmm, it sounds more like jealousy. Double standards seem to always hold weight, pertaining to some form of envious predisposition..

As if there's something about a black man, with a white woman, that bugs you, but you may not want to admit what it is.
I've seen cases of white guys loving "black on white girl" porn and having a fetish-like reaction, enjoying it in porn, getting off on their internalized rage and inadequacy; believing the black male was more "adequate" (endowed) somewhat of a racist-cuckhold fetish--then turning around and being racist as crap; this was the case with a friend who was a racist ex-cop. There was also a business friend of mine (old conservative, from TX) who would constantly try and bring his black friend into threesomes with his gf, she'd complain every time in bed he could not stop saying "are you going to take my buddies black "****"..

Soooo it seems like the "older white" conservatives, might be a tad jealous? Or just bigots, who want to think they can dictate SOMETHING, if it makes them feel a foot taller and "better than" someone.

If it's not that, you're still wrong in your views and have misguided anger or disapproval, because really, why does it have anything to do with you, literally.. Why?

I'll be a "fuckhead" and go with you are subconsciously envious of black males, pleasing "white women", that you cannot.

Well, I guess you already realized that there is something wrong with you. You should probably analyze this further and try to get rid of these bad feelings?
