I hate it because when it happens it's usually when I've had trouble sleeping and just as I am about to fall asleep I wake up, feeling like I've fallen off a cliff or something... and then I then it takes forever to fall asleep again.

It happens in the same scary dream that I'm falling into a river of termites, and usually when I'm really tired and cosy =/

It's called a MYOCLONIC JOLT or MYOCLONIC SEIZURE.

SOme people claim it stems from the days of when we evolved from Monkeys, Monkeys sleep in trees and they sometimes fell from them.

I don't really know if I buy that, but it's funny to think about it.

It does happen to me and now I take xanax to help me with what I guess is part of an anxiety disorder.

  • I had a falling dream when I stopped going to my Synagogue. I had a dream that my Rabbi pushed me off a cliff.

It feels cool. It usually happens right before I enter sleep. Most of the time it's usually the sensation that I'm running and tripping over something.

I like it except that sometimes I have trouble going back to sleep after it happens! Actually I find it happens to me a lot when I'm in that weird place of not exactly sleeping but definitely not awake.

You know when you're halfway between falling fast asleep but you're still partly awake and you suddenly get this feeling that a train hit you in the back of your head? I hate that!

  • It's a good adrenaline rush at first, but then I wake up immediately and snap my teeth on my tongue in a quick movement altogether. I don't intend to, but that doesn't mean my tongue didn't go numb...

I've had that dream of falling before, but I have on three occations had the dream on falling and hitting the ground and dieing or hitting the ground and being jolted away. Very discombobulating.

When I was younger, I would have the feeling of falling in my sleep all the time. It has not happened in years. I wonder why it happens. I wish that it would happen again. I think that that feeling is awesome.

When about to fall asleep, I sometimes get the feeling as if I'm falling on my back. I don't mind it, it's actually quite interesting ^^

I wake up before hitting the ground too. But I've always felt this "wind" in my ears when it happened, and you can actually reproduce this sound by closing your eyes and forcing on it...

I usually wake up before i hit the ground. I wake up no matter the height.

It's not so much the falling part, it's the shocking feeling that makes you wake up, like you're hitting the ground. That never ever fails to leave me confused and bewildered for the first 10-15 seconds of my day.

Sometimes when I haven't been sleeping, but I'm drifting off or I'm daydreaming I get the feeling I've been tripped up and I actually lose my balance... that's wierd.
