Tess holiday is gorgeous. she's very fat and it doesn't matter. iin?

Do you know who Tess Holiday is? She's this plus size model that has become a hot topic lately. I think she's proof that beauty is truly not about size. Just being skinny does not make someone more attractive. If she was skinny, she would still look good. If anything, her appearance obviously tells us that beauty has to do with having excellent hair, flawless skin, and arched eyebrows that even I can't achieve, dammit! I want arched eyebrows like that! Mine have an arch, just not quite that awesome. People should give it rest about body size, weight, and beauty. She's really gorgeous. She's been the model for Torrid for awhile. I say this and I might weigh 117, if that. I have plenty of friends that range in all sizes. I don't quite get the whole size bashing thing that goes on in this world. Its dumb.

  • Being overweight doesn't in any way make her a bad person.

    It just makes her an unhealthy person.

      She does have an 'extreme' body size that's atypical of the norm. The fashion world seems to be very Pablo Picasso in their choices. They ignore normal sizes. I really find that stupid because my photographer mind can find a lot of aesthetically super gorgeous people that are probably 5' 0" - 5'7" and wear anywhere from a size 4-16. Also, its the average sizes that make up the majority of the buyers of fashion in the first place.

      In general, its probably true that she is 'unhealthy' in that she's probably consuming foods that contribute to atherosclerosis, high insulin, and all that stuff that won't kill you overnight, but does cause problems over time. Generally, that's true (generally - there are exceptions). But, you do know that there are overweight people that are indeed healthy (in that they will live a long life relatively free of disease). I don't buy it that all fatter than average people are unhealthy. Nope. Anyways, we're all going to die of something. Life quality is more important. Life quality is different for everybody. Finger pointing at obese people, outright calling them 'unhealthy' is ignorant. I will have to ask if you criticized any skinny people too? Like if I line up a bunch of skinny people at random, can you guess which one has diabetes or hypertension based purely on their weight alone? Doubtful. If you want to know how healthy someone might be, you've got to see their blood work and have them perform some sort of fitness test.

      Overall, your points are quite reasonable :-) Totally. I'm just throwing comments out as food for thought.

      • Yes I see your point. It's not cut and dry every single time.

        Prevailing medical science shows that maintaining a life of moderation, in all things, seems to be the ideal if you want to increase your probability of a long and high quality of life.

        Are some skinny people very unhealthy, sure. Are some overweight people healthy aside from aesthetics, sure.

        Most doctors would tell you it's an exception though.

        Regardless, extra body weight is hard on the joints, especially the spine.

    face= okay
    body= unhealthy/abnormal

    i don't care what all the fat activists or whatever they're called say, being fat is not normal from a biological standpoint. does that mean fat people are unattractive, no. but i don't get the whole condoning an unhealthy lifestyle thing.

    when people see obese animals/children they consider it as abuse, so why is it applauded when someone does it to themselves?

      I don't think it's about condoning an unhealthy lifestyle, I think it's about boosting self-esteem. Too many people are hateful towards people just because of their weight. Either she has a medical problem, or she just likes to eat. Either way, it's her choice (not if its a hormonal problem), not anybody else's.

      Its not normal, just like you see the occasional man that's seven feet tall. Some people are fat. Look at different species. With horses, we have skinny, lightweight breeds and there are draft horses. Each one is totally different in size. Dogs too. Look at Beagles vs. Greyhounds. Ever really look at skinny vs fat body types in humans? Like, the bone structure is very unique to each build type. Skinny people tend to have a light bone structure compared to fat people. Fat build types tend to have a broader bone structure.

      Biologically? I do agree that we're not really supposed to see morbidly obese people. That's a result of abundant food resources in the modern environment. Basically, we're friggin' lucky not to have to starve (in the First World countries). If you go to some island locations in the world, these people are free from diseases that plague the USA and the UK. Their lifestyle is more like we should be living. Its active. They don't have all these sugar-filled processed convenience foods on hand.

      True about obese animals/children. I mean, I've had to do diet changes for horses. Would you believe some of them can't tolerate excess sugar. So, they have to be given low-glycemic hay, no grain, and added fats. If you don't do this, they get really fat and highly risk prone to foot problems that can be severe. As with children? OMG, yeah that is abuse! I know what you're talking about. These kids that are allowed free choice junk sugar foods. These kids have diseases that were once reserved only for adults (high blood pressure, diabetes).

      For adults? If someone enjoys being fat, let them be. But, they shouldn't be doing the same to children, or anyone that can't make their own decisions.

      I think the fat activists just want to stop unwarranted size discrimination. That's all. For that, they're kind of right. Like, Tess? She's really gorgeous, imo. Is she rotund? Yes. So what. Could a person of that size probably drop some pounds purely to improve their health? Realistically? Yes. Does someone that's naturally round need to drop a lot of weight to achieve better health? Likely not.

      I hope she gets more cover shots!

    Like that's much better.

    But regardless, props to her for being confident.

      She has this whole goddess look. Amazing! I think I'm going to get my hair color changed to an auburn reddish shade. Some of her pics have this shade. I think her hair color is light brown. I'm just feeling this whole mood to go some shade of red. Hello, Feria I may be grabbing me a box.

      I don't get why she's called plus-size except that the fashion world calls size 12 'plus'. Why? I mean Christina Hendricks is a size 12. Oh, they don't have that Ethiopian famished look, lol.

  • I'm not taking away from her beauty but you do realize that those type of photos get a ton of editing. She may not have perfect skin that could be the trick of make up or editing. Not too mention she has professionals doing her hair and make up. I looked her up and yes she is beautiful. You can achieve those eyebrows look up tutorials on how to get your eyebrows like that.

      Trust me, I shall look up these tutorials. I just think when I try to fake the super arched shape, it only looks okay from a distance. I love pointy brows.

    It doesn't matter.. unless you are someone that cares for her or otherwise have an emotional investment in her health... In which case, you should be appalled at her apparent happiness with her gross obesity.

    It will probably kill her. I'd imagine that is something that her loved ones should care about. It should matter to them.

    As for everyone else, they need to butt the fuck out of the personal lives of others. She is in the US, she pays for her own health care. It is of no implication to anyone else what she does.. least of all you and me.
