Talking to ex while in relationship? acceptable?

Recently, one of my ex boyfriends contacted me on FB, he was just being friendly, asking how I've been and apologizing for not talking to me for a long time (After we broke up, he kinda was absent for a few months.)

I was polite and replied to him, and thus, we continued to chat about normal stuff, like how we've both been, I told him about my new boyfriend and he seemed cool with it, and I asked him if he had any new girlfriends, etc.

Pretty plain stuff. I was just wondering, do you think it's okay for a person to talk to their ex while in a relationship?

    Here's any easy test. Do you intend to tell your current bf about it and the nature of all your conversation with the ex? If not, you know this contact was wrong. If you do tell him, you'll find out if he's ok with it. Another test, if it was your bf's ex who contacted him, would you be ok with it?

    It all depends on what your and his intentions with each other are. If he hit you up intending to be friends and it is platonic between you two, I don't see the harm. i think your SO should know about your friendship, though. If you plan to be secretive about it, it's not okay.

    I still talk to both my exes. They both have boyfriends but we get along fine. Some people get jealous but they just need to get over it. I wouldnt date someone who told me who i can and cant talk to.

    Well, that's you. I highly doubt I would want to get back with my ex, not only did our relationship end pretty horrible, but he's a virgin and my current boyfriend has a much larger penis. I mean, not to sound vain, but it's true.

      Why would penis size .... nevermind. As long as you tell your boyfriend about it there should be no issue. However any delay can cause jealousy. Why did you even ask first?

    I have a child with each of my ex wives, so there was always a need to discuss hat. I have no interest in socializing with my exes at all, so I can't make any judgement about your doing so.
