Symmetry fetish? x3

No, not an actual fetish. x3

But it often bothers me if something is not symmetrical... I can't stand it if a line is drawn through something off center. I end up drawing more lines over it to center it out so I can relax. xp

Also, if I get bumped or hurt on one side, I need the on the other side.
(Like... Someone hits in my right shoulder. I go and put some pressure on the exact spot on my left shoulder to even it out.)

Is this normal? Does anyone know if there's a name for this obsession?

I used to have this, but it wouldn't keep me awake or drive me insane or something :3

I'm the exact same... But I don't think it's something like ADHD or OCD! I think a lot of people are like this.
I won't say the fact something isn't symmetrical really bugs me but I do have to fix it at some point. It'll keep me awake if it's in my room.
I don't think you should do anything about it, it's just a quirk that makes you different! =D

If you had tasty nuts like I do you would not hit them to keep a balance. You'd know the pain that causes and stop at just getting one hit.

I have OCD trates, say if it is 03:42 i need to count how many minutes it is until the next hour so it would be 18minutes.... it can be annoying but its something i can live with, same as... i line things up so they are next to each other neatly. But as for people saying seek help, take meds etc... that isnt always necessary, everyone has behaviour patterns and little rituals, as long as it isnt taking over your life... just deal with it, teach yourself to stop doing it rather then starting to take loads of pill. You have taught yourself to continue this behaviour, and you can easily teach yourself to stop it. Just tell yourself you dont need to do this, it doesnt matter if everything isnt even, does it really change anything if you smack yourself on the shoulder just so you hurt twice as much?

So if you get kicked in one nut do you have to ask them to kick you in the other?

I do not possess any nuts, so I have no idea. x3
If I did, I might just go and hit the other myself in secrecy or ask to get kicked. 8D -is quite odd-

Like the other posters said, this is a classic symptom of OCD. There are medications and treatment for it. You will find over time that asymmetry will cause you increasing anxiety and only by correcting it, will you feel calm. Your world will become smaller and smaller as you avoid the chaos inherent in it. Better to get help now before you are to paralyzed by this problem to act.

I had the same problem. You might have ADHD i have ADHD (mild) but the way i overcame it was to train myself to not do it! Lol after a few weeks im fine (you might want to take meds)
