Surviving by the kindness of strangers?

I noticed that some people lived most of their lives depending on other people for their survival, without them being their family. These rare cases probably change their worldview to fit the conclusion that the world is not at all hostile, but a kind and generous place.

Is it normal that I wish these insufferable people would get run over?

I was one of those cases, I felt entitled because I saw everyone as hostile and pointless. But a little human kindness just broke that down. I have a daughter! I have a child and all I could think about was me and my sadness over being abandoned by my father. Then it just hit me, Im doing the same thing to her that he did to me. I can't let that cycle go on, it hurts, it really does. I sat down to write my ex and daughter a letter, I finished it and then looked at the money I had sitting there which I was going to spend on myself as usual. I thought "no, it's going to her" and put it in with the letter. I just felt so much better for having done it, the feeling of giving something to someone you tried to ignore but can't help but love deeply. I know it will take time and patience to mend the broken links but I feel as though this is the best thing I've ever done, even if it is such a small thing. The world is not what I thought it was, it's what I make it.

Well mister Tommy, now you have to guard your kids with your life. I would think the world doubly hostile in your position!

Because they're self-righteous when people who are struggling say that the world is anything less than kind.
