Summer sadness?

I have year-round depression, but it gets horribly worse in the summer. It's not the physical effects of the weather, either. There was a question similar to this on IIN, and most people's comment were just bitching about the heat and weather. I don't really mind the weather, it just makes me depressed when I go outside and the whole world is outside, too. Just too many people and it stresses me out. So, IIN?

Is it because during the summer everyone wants to be out doing things, and you can't / dont and it depresses you to see others doing it? When you have depression or an illness of some sort this is very normal, like if people close to you are off out but you're not you feel down cause you'd rather they didn't do anything either.

I don't like summer because everybody around me seems happier and seems to be enjoying life more, which makes me feel jealous and isolated from the rest of the world. Are you getting help for your depression? I hope so, it sucks.

    You need confidence.

  • I can't stand winter, but I have to tolerate it for 4 months of the year, or move to a country with an eternal summer.

But I'm with you on not wanting to share the outdoors with so many other people wanting a piece of the golden goodness.

  • I now hate summer with my job in construction. Lifting pipes that weight more than me in the sun, 30 degrees outside.. But I enjoy it while not on the job :)

  • So sad. I need the sun. Mid winter I always try to go to my place in the islands as much as possible. The heat and humidity recharges me.

If it helps, I feel the same. I feel a bit imprisoned by the summer and the longer days. If I need to go to the shops, I tend to leave it until just after twilight or when it starts raining. I can be very social most of the time but there are times when I just want the streets to myself.
