Sucking on batteries

From age 4-6 I used to suck on AA batteries. I liked the taste of them, and when I tell my friends they always flip out saying "You could've died! Do you know that the battery acid can kill you"... I really don't know why I did, but now when I taste somethings it reminds me of the taste of batteries. Is it normal?

    Sucking on batteries is a very bad idea. How did you end up doing it?

    I have a really, really hard time not licking batteries, but that started in my teens.

    As long as the battery wasn't leaking, and as long as you didn't swallow one, it should be fine. I wouldn't say that your mother was terrible, but she could have been more careful (there are lots of stories about babies swallowing batteries and burning holes through their throats...)

    Yeah. I used to put pennies in my mouth as a kid and now whenever I taste something that has a metallic flavor, I always think "this tastes like a penny".

    Taco Bell meat for one. Taco Bell meat tastes like pennies to me.
