Stretching ear lobes

This is more of a question than an IIN...
I'm getting very impatient when it comes to stretching my ears.. I bought a whole bunch of my goal sizes and I'm anxious to wear them. I only started stretching about a month ago, and I am currently at 3mm.. I REALLY want to bump up to 4mm like, within the next day or so.. But I only got my 3mm in last Wednesday (July 3).
Yes; I use tapers, and no; I'm not gonna stop. I don't think tapers are bad. I even wrote a blog about it.. My ears have been FINE with tapers.

So my question is, at this rate, should I wait to do 4mm or can I do it within the next day or so?

  • It would depend on the elasticity of your skin; everyone's going to be a bit different. Whatever you do: DON'T RUSH IT. If you do force it, you might end up with a blow-out or tearing (fissures), which will set you back (time-wise) waiting for them to heal. Keep your tapers in nice and tight but not painfully so. Patience, patience. :)

It took me almost six months to get up to a 00 gauge from a regular piercing and I've had them that way for seven years now.

Wait! My friend split her earlobe apart. Not a pretty sight.

I'm currently at a 0g, I just downsized from 1/2 inch. That's a BIG difference! I never rushed mine, and mine are quite healthy right now. I've never had a blow out in either one. And tapers are perfectly fine up to 0g,00g, but no further than that. Make sure to always use a lube, preferably E oil, lotion. Safe stretching!

You shouldn't rush these things. If you put a something into your ear lobe that too large for it it can cause the ear lobe to tear, bleed and become infected. In either scenario, you'd have to go to a doctor.

You can find pictures of lobes stretched out wrong. Let them stretch out and let them heal-get used to the "size", or just plug a new size in every week and join the "band wagon".

Im not being mean im just saying, dont rush it like Avant Garde says. For some cultures, the stretching of cartilage is more than just aesthetics. Rushing it will involve in a mistake you regret while, "understanding" it and or (at least) doing it properly can set you apart from those just doing it for the "look".

As an american, yes it is very cool and can be sexy, but like tattoos i can only wonder if its being done as an (quote un quote) aesthetic appeal as opposed to a meaningful or spiritual symbol.

When this fad is over you're going to be looking into plastic surgeons. But if it makes you happy, hey, whatever!

      I don't do "fads"
I'm into it because I like it. Not because everyone else is doing it.
I am my own person, I can do what I want
