Strange new effects from marijuana

I've been toking several times a day for a few weeks, though luckily I've been slowing down my use. Lately, I've been noticing some changes in the effects that marijuana has on me. I now have to smoke at least two bowls of decent stuff to get a good buzz compared to about half a bowl when I started. I've also noticed some new effects that seem weird and a bit schizophrenia-like. Note that most of the effects are gone by three hours and my perception is pretty much back to normal by the next day. One of these unpleasant effects is that on a high dose, some objects seem to have strange electronic camera-like eyes, i.e. the top of the doorframe keeps flashing with these eyes. And even stranger is that when I'm high and I look at the eyes, my vision zooms way in so that it looks like the eyes are pinpointing my location, and I hear an x-ray type sound. I like weed, but it's always been my opinion that tripping on weed (low tolerance, high amount and potency) is much less pleasant, hectic, and paranoia-inducing than tripping on LSD or mushrooms. Can anyone relate to this?

I used to smoke And then ended up getting horrific panic attacks. It's been a year now and I've lost touch with reality. Hopefully you'll never realize what that means.

I find that weed can be neutral or even beneficial if used no more than once a week, so I might just try that. Then again, I may quit entirely.

pot doesn't cause schizophrenia. it can cause like symptoms, but not the actual illness. however if your hallucinating the way you are on weed, then there is somthing else in there, your brain is matrixing(look that up before you bust out movie jokes),or you already have the genetics for schizophrenia and probably should stop smoking before you have a major episode. I have schizoaffective disorder,it's like schizophrenia but with bipolor thrown in. I smoke weed in the most controlled fashion(a joint given to me once a day). and I smoke it only to help me sleep due to vivid dreaming(dreams that seem so real all senses respond). if it wasn't controlled the way it is,I wouldn't be smoking it.

Oh, and the secret prison, that's always nice... if anyone knows what I mean by that, comment back. The secret prison is a small grey place that you can see in everything, and you realize that reality was the dream and the truth is that you're stuck in a tiny grey cell, and there are assassins all around you, waiting to slice you up. Not to mention police lights on everything.

I haven't completely stopped my use, but I only smoke about 0.03 grams a day. I was hearing drilling and screaming sounds, blood spraying on the walls, feeling like I'm in a meat locker that's devouring me with its gushing red-meat walls and hanging corpses. Not too fun. Fuck this drug.

I feel like whatever you are smoking is laced with someone. I have never heard of anyone tripping like this from smoking marijuana

tripping on LSD or shrooms is really fun and tripping on weed is pretty cool but LSD and shrooms are best.
i think the not normal thing tho is that you like weed but you dont like tripping on weed.
    thats the best part, whatever

I have NEVER "tripped" after smoking weed. Either you have some really good shit or you cant take shit. ha. what you described was crazy. it actually sounds like someone put DMT on your weed. cause I have been smoking weed for more than 3 yrs and pretty much everyday and none of that shit has happened. I have even taken mushrooms a few times and never saw anything like you did, I just felt really happy.

  • Sounds pretty bad. Marijuana can cause some pretty bad anxiety issues. It once caused me to have a panic attack, so I stopped using it on a daily basis. I think you should take a break from it.

You don't sound too eager to stop experimenting with mind-altering substances (be it cannabinoids or plain old alcohol), but I don't think you've experienced the kind of Fear that's out there waiting to possibly snatch you. Go ahead and read Hunter Thompson and Jack Kerouak and smoke your 'tea,' but if you want a way out I suggest you take it now. You'll regret disrupting those delicate channels that make up the lobes of your brain; especially when it stops being 'fascinating' and starts being hell on earth...cheers

I think I know what regret and fear are after nearly dying on dramamine and having to deal with the after-effects for months. It's not very fun to live in a cross between a nightmare and a horror movie every time you become a bit tired. The only way out is to fall asleep, but then you realize that you've just gotten yourself into another freakish nightmare, then you eventually wake up to realize that you're back in the real-life nightmare. And don't even get me started on the trip itself. As far as I can tell, the only fear that I haven't experienced is the truly permanent kind. I'm done with recreational drugs, btw. That's what I tell myself. Maybe it's true.

This is my last word on the matter, because I care about your health. If you keep 'mainlining' cannabis like it's some sort of fun game, then you could indeed conceivably end up stuck with some chronic psychological brain disorders...and you'll have them for the rest of your life. And you seem like too nice a person to have to go through that kind of hell. It's your gamble. It's like playing russian roulette with 3 bullets, dude.

My eyes still hurt a bit. This, along with painful sensitivity to sound, only happens after I've gotten completely ripped. My ears are fine though, I'm happy to say.

Oh, and I've only been drunk thrice, barely able to stand up two of those times. Weed can definitely cause brain damage if used frequently for a long time, but I think that the fact that you also drank may have played a major role in your apparently serious IQ loss. I'm sorry to hear about that, btw. I used to really value my intelligence until I realized how much people hate brightness and how much they love stupidity. They claim the opposite, but just observe them and conclude for yourself. I have some very bright friends and they all agree with me that they'd rather have been born normal.

    as if every area*
Essentially, my brain split up. The different areas weren't communicating much with each other, so I was perceiving reality in many different ways, as each of the areas of my brain would individually perceive it. And my body really scared me. I felt ghostly, like my body wasn't real, more like a vague hologram. I'm really happy to be somewhat normal again.

To answer your question (you'd better be for real, dude) at my worst I was smoking maybe 3-4 bowls every day in addition to drinking. This went on for maybe 3-4 years. Effects? I lost some serious IQ points, and I became perpetually lazy.

Twenty regular bowls of "dank" was probably the most I've done. It's normally 10-15 half-sized bowls split over three or four sessions.
I actually went back to smoking since I wrote that, but I haven't had any weed in two, nearly three days. I overdid it again a few days ago, and it was as if area of my brain was conscious on its own, just a bunch of mini-brains in the same body. And when combined to make a whole brain, they create me. But at the time I was almost an observer of my body. The morning after I quit sucked. I was absent-minded some of the time and felt the urge to throw everything that angered me, which was everything. I took half a zopiclone/imovane (benzodiazepine), which really helped with the anxiety and anger. I'm definitely getting better now. Since the brain is still developing significantly into the early-mid twenties, I probably damaged my brain. Oh well, I can't go back. Besides, being bright is, for a very large part, what caused me to become depressed and use drugs. Have you recovered some IQ points? I don't feel MUCH stupider than before, but my short/long-term memory are definitely still fucked right now.

It's actually pretty easy not to smoke unless I do it once that day. Then, the whole day is ruined by strong urges to do it again.

Dude, if weed is affecting your adversely then stop using it.

God hearing this..., If you trip on Weed, the trip is all in your head. If you really try you can keep on going as normal.

My friend had some strong shit and I never smoke, so I tripped when I took 3 hits. It was awesome, but it was also kind of existentially frightening. Back in college when I first got really high I was 'tripping.' It was the most insane experience of my life. I don't know if the few cool experiences I've had with weed are worth all the paranoia and pain, though...

Any long-lasting effects? Tripping from weed can leave me tired for up to a month and I'll see patterns that make faces or eyes for a few days, but nothing long-lasting. I quit yesterday, and I'm confident that by november my brain will be back to 99%% functionality.

These days I would think twice about toying with my brain; wow - that description you just gave would perhaps be triple what I experienced in college. You do NOT want to damage your brain. It is not a game. I myself don't smoke weed any more at all; it will indeed cause long-term side effects.

Look Malfoy - If you're smoking 20 bowls of that powerful shit a day, then you're definitely going to go into THC withdrawal if you simply stop smoking completely. You're presently physically and mentally addicted to marijuana. Here's a link:
            http://www.steadyhealth.com/Symptoms_of_the_marijuana_withdrawals_t52868.html
There are plenty of other sites besides this one. Good luck to you my friend, and don't toy around with your brain. It's the only one you've got!

Yesterday, I smoked about 20 bowls of pretty strong bud throughout the day. Now people look selfish and rushed in their movements. I hate this damn fear of going crazy every time I stop smoking for a day. I'm sick of it. I'm quitting completely. Weed may not be nearly as bad as other drugs, but high-thc weed smoked several times a day can cause serious problems. I'm stopping before things get out of hand.

Have you ever had the feeling that reality was shutting down or that some generator was keeping it running but it would deflate any second? I once got so high that I was in a pink indoor carnival (vision filled with rising pink streams), and the ceiling was about one meter high. Then I entered what I call "machine hell". Every object was some kind of huge steampunk-style biological factory or store, and I could see myself perceiving sounds and images, I could see the cross-sections of sounds as they dropped into my field of vision. I kept hearing alien-like music as well as "disappointment" music while a witch from the "ministry" sent me a letter of rejection from reality, talking about shutting down my generator which was in disgusting shape. Everything was so MORBID, I can't describe the amount of euphoria as well as horror that I experienced, as well as delusions of where I was. I got lost in my living room because I thought I was in a circus or a stadium. It was a night filled with strange laughing penguins and bizarre circus performers/presenters in top hats, welcoming me into this new world, reminiscent of salvia. Sorry for the long post. I'd just like to say that weed's effects can be completely underestimated. It's all in the dosage and tolerance. Stay away from weed for a month, then, as quickly as you can, smoke plenty of bowls of the best mainly-sativa strain you can get. if you do it properly and quickly enough, you'll be tripping harder than the average acid-head does. You might also be depressed for a while. I shouldn't go on any longer.

My boyfriend is a pot-head (late teens to current late twenties), and I thought I'd experiment. Turns out I black out... I tried some, and we went upstairs to make dinner.. one moment I was at the counter, and the next I was on the ground, no recollection, with broken plate shards and everything else around me. Took a few hours until the dizziness stopped... he's never seen anything like it in his life... and now I don't believe him when he tells me that it has less effect on him than alcohol :S
