Strange interest in cholera

I was in biology the other day and was learning about cholera. After the lesson I found the whole way the bacteria takes place to be fascinating, the way one thing leads to another.
Is it normal to randomly take interest in one specific (and quite gross) disease.

I think you're probably pretty smart. Bubonic plague is interesting as well as the Yellow Fever outbreak in the South in the 1800's. I like to study the social impact, also.

Haha sooo you caught rice water diarrhea fever eh? I was a pharmacy major when I took an intro micro course and switched my major just like that even though I was already accepted to pharmacy school. There's a lot more than vibrio cholera. Shoot vibrio fischeri inhabit organs in a little squid and produce light creating an illusion to predators below the squid at night. Bacteria are amazing. =) Focusing on one particular disease is even better and maybe take medical anthropological approach to not only find ways to prevent the disease but actually work with the people affected and educate them. I believe Haiti has been having a hard time with cholera as of late because of the disaster there.

I'm going to say yes. I absolutely LOVE Bubonic Plague, aka Yersinia pestis!

I love everything about it and can go into graphic details on how it lives, infects people and animals, and how to kill it.

I'd say if something piques your interest run with it. It could be a future career path, hobby, or just a one off!

wow god forbid you be interested in something in school. I mean, I know that it totally takes away from your popularity cred or whatever. Which at your age is everything.
Sorry I'm just busting your balls.
You should look into being a lab tech. I'm actually way nerdy about parasitology. Absolutely fascinating stuff. There's a universe out there. Explore it.

That's not normal, things like that fascinate me too. I am taking courses in high school, to get a biotech degree so I can be a Biological Technician.

Sounds like you might have a future in research! And since you have an interest in diseases like this, you might be interested in medicine as a career. Good luck!

Uh yeah. That may turn out to be what you focus on as far as research or something....as long as you don't try to release it on the population or something crazy like that!
