I would like to end this rubbish for everyone. Please find below the guidelines to follow if you have this problem!
It may be caused by a number of reasons, it is down to the individuals body.
If you have redness, inflammation (swelling), and/or a yellowish discharge inside or around your belly button, follow these simple guidelines for 2-3 days:
try not to pick or scratch the affected area,
clean your belly button gently with salt water twice a day, and
dry it carefully but thoroughly after washing.
If after a few days you still have the same symptoms, you should see your GP so that they can investigate the cause of the irritation. If you have an infection your GP may prescribe a course of antibiotics.
I had one too 5 weeks ago. I had an infection in week one, but I got on Septra. Got an allergic reaction then went on Keflex. Fixed it right up. I just kept mine dry and clean clean clean with regular soap and I made sure it was very dry after each shower. Wet places means bacteria, even without keyhole surgery.
