Sticks and stones will break my bones but online attacks never hurt me

In short, as long as I remain anonymous, I really don't care about any nasty comments I receive online. In over 18 years of being online and using forums and newsgroups, I've been attacked and even threatened countless times for speaking my mind (anonymously) and/or asking a controversial question or something someone deems "stupid".

I don't purposely go around calling people names, stirring up unnecessary conflict, or threatening people. But I don't go out of my way to avoid it if I sense what I'll say will erupt in flames, conflict, or name calling.

In short, I find it extremely easy to move on when people say nasty things to me online.. and I usually will punch back with a rebuttal if it feels worthwhile.

Does that sound normal?

If you're anonymous it's harder for them to make their attacks personal, so yes in this case your reaction is normal. :)

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I’m the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, kiddo.

    -Throws sticks and stones-
Hahaha, nah I don't know why people get so upset with things said to them on the internet really. Most of the time the person is just trying to have a laugh anyway.

I never take it personal either, if people don't know me they can't make comments that stings either. Even when I chat with a well filled profile and pictures of myself I don't take offence to things.

At it's worst I get furious over stupidity but that's it.

Something that hasn't happened to me but that would totally creep me out would however be if someone found out about my home address and cell phone number and posted this on-line - That is taking things a step too far.

I never say things on this site that I can't stand for outside of it either, everyone that I mention here are people that I could deal with if they found out that I've mentioned them in threads.

I always thought it was an expression of affection or perhaps marking your territory.

My love of fiber grows by the day. Friday night I had an enormous chicken avocado Caesar salad then I went to Walmart, let everything hang out and stunk up the joint. My heart swelled with pride!

I don't think it's a bad thing to be wounded by words. Caring about what other people think means you have empathy, which is an important social skill. You have to learn what sort of criticism is worth your time and what isn't, not dismiss all of it.

Gotta love the people that attack you online, then block you immediately afterwards.

I will not be posting Anonymous, you can see clearly my username at least, and if you want you can lurk about my profile to try and find something out about me, see if you can make me tick as well, yes? It's easy if you know how even with the minimal amount of information I've put.

Well of course it doesn't do shit to you while your anonymous, why do you think trolls lurk on anonymous threads and sites? Because it's an easy one way hit for them. You can't say shit if you don't know what makes them fold, can you?

Tell you what, let's play a game, me and you. We'll have a conversation and let's see if I can get you to fold, hmm? Let's see if I can't learn something about you whilst you're lurking behind your anonymity.
